Hello, and welcome to Dressed for My Day. It occurred to me recently that since the title of my blog is Dressed for My Day perhaps I really should be a little better about sharing how I “dressed for my day.” Ha! I guess my excuse for not being more regular with this in the past is that, like you, I repeat a lot of my outfits. But honestly, that’s just an excuse. The real reason I haven’t been more consistent is that I forget to take those daily photos. But I’m training myself to do that and I’m pleased to say that I’m definitely getting better at it.
So I’m practicing right now for what I’m determined to become a weekly practice in January. My goal is to post these daily outfits on the same day each week. Wish me luck!
This past week I did indeed take a photo every day. But, while I just knew I’d remember where and why I wore each outfit, I in fact do not. Ha! So that’s the next project. I’ve got to come up with an easy, uncomplicated way to remember when and where I’m wearing these things. Meanwhile, these are just outfits I wore in the past week or so…
Sizing Information
Just for reference, I’m 5’8″ and weigh about 155. I generally wear a size 8 or medium in dresses, tops, jackets and pants (or 29), so that’s what I’m wearing in these looks unless I tell you otherwise. That way you can assume everything I show you is true to size unless I alert you to sizing up or down. I wear a size 9.5 shoe and, again, I’ll just let you know if I sized up in a shoe, otherwise it’s true to size.
How this Works
I’m going to share the photo of my look followed by the information you need to know. I’ll include any fit issues; otherwise, assume that the items fit true to size. I’ll also try to share sale alerts and substitutions. Then you can shop the look through the Looks widget I provide. The links are affiliate links. That means that when you shop through them, I potentially earn a commission, but at no cost to you. Thanks so much for shopping through my links and supporting the work I do here.
Jeans and Cashmere
This first look I know I wore to the mall because I remember taking it off and on a zillion times while trying things on. (Maybe I’m going to remember more than I thought!)
I love, love, love these Franco Sarto boots and just bought the caramel croc print, too. They run true to size and they’re currently marked down 40%. Such a good buy! Also these Everlane jeans have become my absolute favorite. They’re comfortable and have such a trim fit. Unfortunately the blue denim ones did not fit me the same. Finally, the v-neck cashmere I’m wearing is from last year, but Talbots has similar ones this year and I’ve linked them below. And today Talbots is offering 40% off sweaters.
Work from Home Look
Judging by what I’m wearing, I’m guessing this was a Tuesday. I generally opt for leggings or joggers when I’m working on videos.
Everything in this outfit runs true to size. I’m so impressed with Talbots’ joggers. I actually end up wearing these even more than my Athleta or Zella joggers. Who knew? They also come in grey, as you’ll see in the Looks widget below.
Flare Leg Jeans & Pullover Sweater from Target
This must have been Wednesday, so it’s another work from home outfit. But after spending a day in joggers or leggings on Tuesday, I’m usually rather to change gears and put on something a little more elevated midweek.
I purchased this pretty green turtleneck sweater from Target, and for just $20 it’s a winner. It’s soft and rich looking and runs true to size. I’m wearing medium. The turtleneck sweater comes in five colors and a full range of sizes, including plus sizes. I shared these flare leg jeans in this previous post this week, if you want to see them styled a little differently. However, now that I think about it. I wore them with a turtleneck there, too.
Photo Shoot Day
Well, speaking of the previous post, here’s that exact look. Frequently if I’m going to be shooting photos in the afternoon I’ll just wear the first outfit we’re shooting during the day.
Work from Home Outfit
While I do indeed work from home, I try to put together professional looking outfits most days. I just stay more on task and focused that way. This next outfit is a perfect blend of work from home casual and office ready professional in my opinion. And it’s comfortable!
While I already own a lot of cashmere, I did add this black v-neck to my collection this year just because it’s so versatile. I love wearing black, even head to toe. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I’m just naturally drawn to it. I have to force myself to wear color every now and again. The sweater is 40% off this weekend.
Oh, and these shoes! I’m loving them and they’re such a bargain at less than $50.
What I Wore to Church
I picked up these J.Jill ponte knit pants and loved them so much that I immediately wore them to church on Sunday. I find them to run true to size.
I paired the ponte knit pants with an Audrey cashmere sweater, which I styled multiple ways in this previous post. My pumps are old and no longer available, but I’m linking to similar ones in different price points. Of course, my Michael Kors bag is also not available, but I’ve linked to similar options.
Sunday Afternoon
And you know I love my loungewear for Sunday afternoons. This Sunday was a little balmy so I wore my open toe Acorn slippers instead of the mules.
By the way, my fig colored Sunday wide leg pants are 25% off this weekend with code 84235. In fact, most everything on the Soma website is 25% off with this code! My tie dye t-shirt is not from Soma. It’s a Nordstrom find that I originally purchased to wear with these stretch cotton joggers that I shared in this post. And I have indeed worn that pairing, but I ended up wearing a sweater in the post instead. Those pants are still 35% off. I think I’ll put them on today!
Another Sunday Morning
See, this is where things go wonky. I must have worn this outfit two Sundays ago. Yeah, I got these out of order. I’m going to figure this out eventually! But on this Sunday I wore my coordinating Italian flannel trousers and jacket with a deep purple cashmere turtleneck from last year. Of course, I purchased these separates when they were 50% off, and they’re not now. But I’m sure they’ll be marked down again soon. They both fit true to size.
Pre-Video Shoot
I’m out of order again because I specifically remember wearing this outfit to the mall before shooting videos on Saturday. I sometimes forget to reach for a pretty blouse instead of a sweater, but if you can find a comfortable one like this one, it’s just as easy to wear. Mine is from last year, but I’ll see if I can find similar ones to link to.
By the way, my open front cashmere cardigan is still marked down but selling out fast. It comes in a pretty dark blue, too. And I also noticed that Talbots’ corduroy jeggings, which I’m wearing here, are going fast.
Outfit in Transition
Next up I have three different outfits, but I wore them all within a 48 hour period. I just kept changing things out as the weather changed. The first look is just with the sweatshirt. I love this color, but this oh so comfy sweatshirt comes in a multitude of contemporary shades. (J.Crew rewards members, use code FAMILY to get 45% off!)
I wore this first look on Wednesday when I was just working from home, but I did run out to Target to pick up some prescriptions. I’m wearing my boyfriend jeans from Talbots which they’re no longer carrying. But the J.Crew Vintage straight jeans would be a great substitute. Those run true to size and they’re a great relaxed but slim fit jean. By the way, these Madewell leopard print sneakers have been one of the topsellers here at DFMD recently. They’re marked down and 30% off with code WARMUP.
Then Thursday I added my new flannel shirt from J.Crew under the sweatshirt. The flannel shirt is marked down and you can use code FAMILY to get 45% off. It runs true to size; I’m wearing an 8. By the way, I also purchased this New York t-shirt to wear under my flannel shirt. It’s under $20!!!
In the look above I switched out my boyfriend jeans for my Talbots denim jeggings. I always forget how much I absolutely love these jeans until I put them on. They’re so comfortable and slimming. At this point I really can’t remember which wash my jeans are in, so I’m linking to a couple of different ones.
I wore my leopard print flats in the morning, but when I got ready to leave the house for a lunch date I was feeling cold. So I switched into my leopard booties (no longer available, but here’s a great alternative or check out these from Target).
I also added my navy diamond quilted vest. It was cold! And I like the splash of contrasting color my necklace provided.
Well that gets me to today! And right now I’m wearing my workout clothes so I can head out the door for a run as soon as I get this post published. Yay!
Let me know if you have any questions. So much of what I’ve shown you here is on sale for the weekend. I hope you enjoyed the post. Have a lovely weekend!

Blessed for My Day
Sometimes when Jesus healed people he required them to do nothing. He just healed them. But many other accounts of Jesus healing someone include Him giving instructions they had to follow first. Get up, go wash, believe. I’ve found the same to be true in my life.
Yes, there are times when God still heals our hurting hearts or our sinful habits with a mysterious and sudden change. But more often than not we must first obey His instructions before He will bring complete healing to our lives. In my case those instructions have included let go, wait, trust Me, turn away from, stop and cling to this truth. And yes, God has brought complete and amazing healing in those areas of my life. If you are seeking healing for your hurting heart or from your damaging habits today, I encourage you to consider what instructions God may be whispering to you, perhaps through the pages of His Word.
When He had said this, He spit on the ground, and made mud from the saliva, and applied the mud to his eyes, and said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So he left and washed, and came back seeing. ~ John 9: 6-7
Hello Kay,
I love that your emails are personalized. Makes me feel special.
Also, love your fashion.
Thanks Teresa. I’m glad you’re enjoying that feature. I really want you ladies to feel special. I’m very grateful for my subscribers. ❤️
Great outfits & I do change clothes during the day also depending on if going to gym, running errands, to the barn to feed horses & clean stalls, driving granddaughter to dance class, church, investment club meeting, or going out to eat. I have a lot of fun choosing outfits & usually set them up a week in advance so I can just grab & go. Thank you for the Bible verses & inspirational thoughts.
Wow! What a variety of activities you have! Thanks so much for sharing. I’m glad you enjoyed the post. 🥰
Great looks, Kay! Thanks. Love your eye for putting things together. And, as always, your encouraging BFMD–especially this tough year!
You bet! Thanks so much for reading. Have a great weekend! 😊
When I first was introduced to your site from a friend you had a pink top on and I took a picture of you and brought it to my hairdresser. Your hair had the side bang and the sides were straight down not messy however you could see your earrings. I just love your personality and love you bringing inspirational messages to your followers. I deleted the picture and tried to see it on your post but was unsuccessful.
Thank you Kay! You are a delight!
Thanks so much for your kind words, Linda. I’m very glad you’re enjoying the blog. I’m not sure what photo you’re referring to. Maybe look through the archives? You can go to the Home page of the blog and then just scroll through all of the posts from there. I’m sorry I can’t help you out more. 🙂 It also could have been a photo from my Instagram feed. So you might check there.
I lost my office job in September and have been living in flannel shirts and leggings while mostly indulging my artistic aspirations. You’ve inspired me to revisit my wardrobe (I can’t justify new purchases right now) to find attractive and comfortable outfits. With COVID I don’t go out much except hiking or grocery shopping so I appreciate your cute-comfortable approach.
Wonderful! I’ve got a great post for you on Monday!
While I’m a day late reading this post, I hope I not a dollar short. I enjoy seeing how you really dress each day. I am going to check out the turtleneck sweater from Target since I am not sure I will like wearing one now and I don’t have one in my closet. I am so hot natured now that wearing two long sleeve tops together would have me sweating like crazy. But I really like the long sleeve top you wore under the sweatshirt. Not adds so much to the outfit. I was in some nice sweatpants earlier because it was in the 40’s, but am already in jean shorts because it’s in the 60’s. Great BFMD!
Hahaha! I hear ya! I never would have imagined I would layer like this either. But baby it’s cold up here! 😂🤣😂🤣 Thanks for ready, Ginger, and have a great weekend. 🥰
Hi! Could you suggest a more economic option for the mustard sweatshirt in the Transitional section? Thanks!
