So I think I’ve settled on Fridays for posting my daily looks. How does that suit you? I’m not sure this is your cup of tea, but many of my readers do seem to like seeing my “real life” outfits. So this is becoming a weekly post. And I think Fridays are a good time to share how I really dressed for my day. That way you and I both will know what day to expect these posts.
Sizing Information
Just for reference, I’m 5’8″ and weigh about 155. I generally wear a size 8 or medium in dresses, tops, jackets and pants (or 29), so that’s what I’m wearing in these looks unless I tell you otherwise. That way you can assume everything I show you is true to size unless I alert you to sizing up or down. I wear a size 9.5 shoe and, again, I’ll just let you know if I sized up or down in a shoe, otherwise it’s true to size.
How this Works
I’m going to share the photo of my look followed by the information you need to know. I’ll include any fit issues; otherwise, assume that the items fit true to size. I’ll also try to share sale alerts and substitutions. Then you can shop the look through the Looks widget I provide. The links are affiliate links. That means that when you shop through them, I potentially earn a commission, but at no cost to you. Thanks so much for shopping through my links and supporting the work I do here.
Friday – Work from Home & Evening Out
This first look I wore most of the day Friday as I worked from home. I did what I’m constantly preaching here: I wore my joggers, but I added a soft cashmere sweater up top. I just think we owe it to ourselves to wear our nice clothes right now, even if we’re not going anywhere.
Y’all! My coin stretch bracelet seems to be back in stock! I love, love, love this bracelet. Coin jewelry is really trending and this one looks so “authentic” and luxe. It’s 25% off with code 84778 (as of Thursday).
Evening Out
Obviously James and I went somewhere that evening because I changed clothes into jeans and a sweater. Trust me, it probably wasn’t any big deal. It doesn’t take much for me to get dressed up these days. I get dressed to get groceries, run to the post office or grab a burger. Ha! Desperate times, desperate measures!
Now that I think about it, I feel like I wore this to the mall to return a few things. Yeah, it doesn’t take much of an excuse for me to get dressed! Anyhow, I had just gotten in these Franco Sarto booties in, and so I’m sure I built this outfit around them. I already owned and loved the black Franco Sarto boots, so when they were marked down (and they still are!) I decided to get the caramel print croco leather boots, too.
My houndstooth wool blend coat has been restocked in some sizes and it’s marked down 40%, which is about what I paid for it in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It runs true to size. Such a lovely coat.
Saturday Daytrip Outfit
I featured Saturday’s outfit in my post yesterday. Check there for much better photos taken on our outing. But I thought I’d go ahead and share it here, too, for the sake of consistency.
Sunday Morning for Church
Sunday I reached into the back of my closet to pull out a favorite outfit that I purchased two years ago at least. I love, love, love these plaid pants from Talbots. Of course, they’re not available, but I’ll link to something similar.
My trench coat is no longer available either. But I’ve linked to similar styles. Sunday was damp and cold, but not so cold that I needed a big winter coat. I was thankful I had this classic piece in my closet.
Sunday Afternoon at Home
On Sunday afternoons I pretty much stick close to home and just chill. So I almost always change into my wireless bralette (such a treat!) and some kind of loungewear. On this day, however, I opted for my black Zella joggers and a cardigan that is no longer available. The Zella joggers run true to size and are available in other colors (in limited sizes).
My Acorn mules come in other patterns and colors, too. They are so comfortable. The long sleeve slub tee is available in other colors as well.
Work from Home and Errands
On Monday I mostly worked from home and then got out to run a few errands. I wore my cotton stretch joggers. By the way, these pants looked a lot better with these boots in real life than they do here. Ha! My socks didn’t show when I stood normal. I don’t know why I didn’t take a photo showing that. Oh, and they’re still available in both colors and still 35% off.
The weather returned Monday, so I wore this long sleeve layering tee under my cashmere sweater. I appreciate that this tee is a “second skin” t-shirt, meaning that it’s thin and fits close to the body, but it’s not tight and it definitely helps keep me warm. It’s also available in black and grey and runs true to size.
My cashmere sweater was purchased last year at Talbots, and they’re available this year, too. But check out the Halogen cashmere sweaters at Nordstrom because they’re under $60 right now. Amazing price! And these are good sweaters. I have one or two. They seem to be well stocked in an assortment of colors, too, but they’ll go fast at this price.
Work from Home & Appointments
Tuesday I mostly worked from home, but I did have an appointment I needed to dress for. I decided to create a tonal look with head to toe rich browns. I love dressing tone on tone like this. I think it’s so chic and slimming.
My sweater is from last year and not available, but this one is the same brand, Treasure & Bond, and quite similar. I think Treasure & Bond does a good job with soft, cozy sweaters at reasonable prices. (Oh, and I’m about to check out this Treasure & Bond sweater dress!)
My corduroy pants are about gone. I always forget how quickly corduroys tend to sell out each year. But you also might check out the straight leg version here. They seem to be more well stocked.
Work from Home, Feeling Chilly
Wednesday I worked from home and then got out just to mail some packages and pick up prescriptions. I was feeling chilly in my house, so after working out and showering I put on my fleece lined pants. I bought these in navy last year, but picked them up in black this year. And I may be wrong, but I feel like Talbots’ fleece lined pants are a little trimmer this year. I love these pants!
The fleece lined pants run true to size and they do come in exact sizes, so you get a more tailored fit that way. The key here is not to put them in the dryer. Because they’re lined, you need to hang them to dry. But I do put them in the washing machine, of course. I think these fleece lined pants are both warm and cozy and flattering and modern. They feature a zipped cargo pocket.
I’m wearing the pants with a supersoft cableknit sweater. Don’t forget both the sweater and the pants are 40% right now. And if you use a Talbots credit card and your purchase (before discounts) amounts to $200+, you’ll get 50% off.
Well for some reason I didn’t snap a photo of yesterday’s outfit. Go figure! But that’s okay because we actually did a photo shoot yesterday afternoon and that outfit will be featured on the blog next week.
Let me know if you have questions about anything I’ve shown here. Most everything is delightfully marked down or on sale. ‘Tis the season!

Blessed for My Day
Is your heart hurting over something today? Maybe you feel like your hurt is personal and really even insignificant in the scheme of things. So you hold it close to your heart and only rarely share it with anyone, feeling like no one would understand or that you would sound petty and silly.
We all have those little hurts, dear friend. But we don’t need to feel ashamed or embarrassed to share them with Jesus. He cares for us. Yes, the King of kings knows that our feelings are sometimes overblown in comparison to the big works He is accomplishing through our circumstances. But He still does not dismiss or belittle those feelings. It is safe to carry all of our hurts and confusions and frustrations to Him. There in His presence we may find perspective and hope, but we’ll also find tenderness and compassion.
“I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. He who is a hired hand, and not a shepherd, who is not the owner of the sheep, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf snatches them and scatters the flock. He flees because he is a hired hand and does not care about the sheep.” ~ John 10:11-13
Kay, I just want to tell you I really do enjoy these type of posts. You look lovely everyday. Thanks for sharing.
Debbi, thank you so much for letting me know. It’s definitely helpful to me to do these sorts of posts because it challenges me to put a little more effort in on days when I might not otherwise. 😉
Kay, I am one of your followers that enjoys these posts. Seeing what you wear gives me inspiration. I am in a boot from the orthopedic until the end of Dec., hoping that the steroid injections and stability will settle down the inflammation in my left ankle and bone, so that is having an impact on what I wear. I am starting to wear some of my Christmas tops because I love this season, even with the impact of COVID. I hope you are having a fabulous Friday.
So thankful that Jesus is the true shepherd. He has died for us and He is risen!! Praise the LORD that He forgives our sin when we confess to Him our sins. We must do this first then we can follow our Jesus our Christ in all things. Serving Him daily! Loving your website!
Love this type of post Kay. It always gives me ideas. As long as you remember to take the pictures perhaps it makes for one easier post for you in the week. Not being a blogger I am not really sure about that but thanks for posting them anyway.
I enjoy these posts, Kay. I love the brown tonality outfit!
Love these posts. Please keep doing them. You always look so nice.
Hi Kay, I am a regular Youtube viewer and I love your styling ones. Could you do one on comfy unmentionables, especially ones that “disappear” under knit clothes? I have a hard time finding comfortable bras for at home (36E) and no-show panties that don’t do wedgies. I can’t stand wearing my underwires and shapewear shorts when at home, which is most of the time these days. No modeling, of course, you could just do a flat layout or show the manufacturers photos (no matter how refined and modest the videos, they always attract creepy men, or women fishing for creepy men to make money from). Thanks for considering my input.
Hi Kimberly. I did a winter intimates refresh here: http://206.189.207.166/fall-winter-undergarment-essentials-refresh/
