Happy Monday! Are you ready to start your week? I’m kicking off the new week by sharing with you how I really dressed for my days during the past two. These are the outfits I’m really wearing and loving.
Remember, most days I just work in my home office. So these are all pretty casual looks. But hey, that’s where most of us live. Right?
FYI, I’m 5’8″, weigh 155, have an hourglass shape and even proportions. My wardrobe neutrals are black, grey and brown. And my signature colors are red, pink and green. You’ll see, however, that I’m still crushing on neutrals these days.
I’ve registered most all of these looks into my Shopstyle Page. So you can just click the link below any photo to get all the details about the items in the look. Sometimes items are sold out, of course, so I’ve linked similar items at various price points.
Work from Home
These first few looks are all work from home outfits. I’m still loving this leopard print hoodie. I think it’s a nice weight and it’s very soft. The hooded sweatshirt also comes in a black and grey leopard print. Both are still fully stocked. I styled it with my black blazer in this post.
I picked up these Levi’s jeans recently when I visited a Levi’s store. Curious to see how the old favorites fit these days, I spent the better part of an afternoon trying on almost every pair in the Levi’s outlet store. I was pleasantly surprised. These jeans are affordable, have some stretch but still feel like the old familiar brand. And I still love that little red tag on the back pocket!

Around Christmas I purchased these Ugg slippers because I needed something soft to wear around the house, but also sturdy enough to wear when I took the dog out. These fit the bill perfectly. I don’t even mind wearing them on my back deck when it’s covered with ice…very carefully, of course!

This next look is what I wore to work from home in the morning and then I added the blazer in the afternoon to go to the outlet mall. I really love wearing these commuter pants for days like these when I want to be comfortable, but I also have places to go.
The sweater is several years old, but I’ve linked to similar items.

When I got ready to head for the outlet mall, I slipped off the sweater and added the blazer with the dickey. I must have already had that ribbed tee on (because I layer almost daily!) and just decided I didn’t need the sweater, especially since I’d be trying on clothes.
This blazer is an investment piece. Don’t be thrown by it. It’s absolutely amazing and I’m so thrilled with it. But any black blazer would look great with these pants. In fact, Athleta has one that’s a little pricey, but no where near as expensive as this one. I’ve tried that blazer on and it fits beautifully, TTS. It would be a great travel piece. I’ll put the details in the shopping page.

I wore this next look to work from home, too. It may look a little dressy, but I think it’s just the fact that the sneakers have wedge heels. I had just picked up these sneakers the day before and wanted to play around with styling them. I love the look and I am really enjoying these sneakers.
I had kept hoping they’d be marked down, but I doubt they will be before summer. So I took the plunge because I wanted to share them with you gals. I think these wedge sneakers (oh so comfortable!) are a great way to add a little sophistication to your most casual looks. And the ones from Steve Madden are definitely less expensive. All that in the shopping link!

I wore the next look on the next day as I was still playing around with these sneakers. I had also picked up these wide leg jeans the day before at Talbots and wanted to wear them. The jeans run small, gals. I normally wear a 6 in Talbots jeans, but these are 8s and they are snug. But they fit. If I were to go up a size they’d look way too big and they’d end up bagging on me.
I really, really like these jeans. It feels soooo good to have on jeans that are not skinnies. But these are high waisted and in order to look proportional, they have to be snug in the torso. So I think it’s just a matter of getting used to them. You’ll be seeing more of these!
Oh, and that pink cotton sweater is my first purchase from Everlane. It’s a medium and it’s really too big for me, but I didn’t feel like returning it. I also got it in the black in the small (I have no idea why I ordered the medium pink.) and it fits beautifully. It’s a boxy, cropped fit, so be forewarned. But it is a sweet and comfy sweater.
12 Ways to Style a Pullover Sweater post. They never restocked this exact one, but you can get the same sweater in other colors now. I’d size down. This one is great, but it has “grown” with wear.

When I posted my How to Wear Straight Leg Ankle Jeans in the Winter post a couple of weeks ago, I mentioned that I felt sock booties were perhaps the best choice for this silhouette of denim. Yep! I was right. (Well, lots of other people said it before me.) I got these Marc Fisher sock booties at a fraction of the original price and they’re still available. They run tight across the top, so if you have wide feet beware. Mine are pretty narrow even though I wear mediums, so they’re fine for me. And they’re really pretty comfortable shoes…for heels.

I wore this next look one day as I got out to run several errands and grab lunch with a friend. I’m pretty sure these are those same Levi’s from above. My turtleneck is sold out I believe, but I’m pretty sure the blazer is still available. I like this easy tone on tone look.

Here are those sock booties again. Major crush here!
I’m wearing a new pair of jeans gifted to me by Mott & Bow. When you order from them you generally get to select two sizes. You receive both, try them on and then send back the pair you don’t need within a few days. (This service is not available on all styles, but most.) I love that! Why doesn’t everyone just do that? I ended up with my usual size 29 in these Laight slim boyfriend jeans. And yes, I really like these jeans. They’re high quality, but a reasonable price.
And then when I left the house for an appointment, I added my plaid long blazer.
The next day I put on the same jeans. I tend to do that when I get something new in. I keep styling it different ways so I can decide how I want to show it to you! Plus, I was just over the moon about these boots and the jeans.
And again, when I left the house to make some returns at the mall, I added this plaid trucker jacket. By the way, I have a medium in the trucker jacket from Christopher & Banks, but I wish I had the small. It’s quite roomy. I love the front zipper. And I also like that this jacket has every color under the sun in it so it’s quite versatile.
I wore this to have lunch with a couple of friends on Tuesday (these are all out of order, y’all!). I’m wearing my favorite black slacks – which are so comfortable I actually love wearing them instead of jeans. In fact, I just ordered the Nightshade pair, which I’m assuming are navy, because they’re marked down (along with a dark truffle brown).
I just paired my black slacks with an old dark grey turtleneck and topped it all with my black scuba jacket and hoodie dickey. I’m wearing my black suede booties.

Oh, and I did add this colorful, warm scarf and grab my leather hobo bag on the way out the door. I love an all neutral look with just a pop of color like this.
Finally, just yesterday I wore my green sweater dress to church. I love the puff sleeves, the gored skirt and the tie neck of this dress. Not to mention it’s a nice thick knit and a gorgeous dark green. And of course it pairs beautifully with my boots, but would also look really nice with heels or flats. It’s still available, too.

Blessed for My Day
I find it pretty easy to extend grace to most people. Honestly, I do. But for some reason I have higher expectations for my own family and tend to be a little harder on them when they take a wrong turn. I think that’s simply because I really want more for them. Right?
But God’s Word tells me that while I may hope to impart some wisdom and fresh perspective when a loved one has missed a step, I need to do so carefully. First, I must be gentle. God is so gentle with us. Second, I need to make sure my motive is indeed to restore and build up, not to tear down or shame. Finally, I need to examine myself and keep a guard. Often the very mistakes we see so clearly and diagnose so easily in others are the very ones we habitually stumble into ourselves.
Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. ~ Galatians 6:1
I am so sorry little Benji passed over the weekend. I know you all are going to miss him. They are part of our lives and family and that makes it tough. I love these posts of what you wore each day. I just wish the lighting were better so they showed up more.
Prayers for you on the loss of your sweet dog! I’m facing that with my 13 1/2 yr old doxie. His health is beginning to decline & I dread having to say goodbye. They are such loyal companions. Hugs to you!
Dear Kay,
I am so very sorry about the passing of your precious pet, Benji. I believe that all pets are special gifts from God and the love they give to us so very unconditionally is beyond comprehension. I am so glad for you that you shared 16 memorable years with him.
Thank you so very much for sharing your thoughts, insightful comments and wearable outfits which just make sense.
You are a treasure! Have a blessed week!
Very sorry for the loss of your precious Benji. Sending you hugs.
Sorry about Benji??

So sorry about Benji. Even when we know that the time is near, we are never ready. Our furry family members give us such love and comfort.
I love the plaid scarf you have here. I just clicked the link, and the scarf is really reduced. First time looking at J Jill. I am going to look at a few more of their sale items, just because haha!
Your Blessing for the day hit home for me. I can be hard on daughter when it comes to Certain things. My dad is the same way w me and I hate it. I need to ask God to help me in this area.
Im so sorry about sweet Benji, Ik you will miss him. praying for peace and comfort. Nicki
So sorry to hear about Benji. Our pets love us so unconditionally and become another member of our family so to grieve is very normal – and necessary. We have lost older pets and I can say the void they leave does take time to get over (well honestly we may never get over it but it will get easier). I pray you are filled with God’s comfort and peace and the knowledge that he is no longer suffering. ❤️ ?
So sorry to read about the passing of your little Benji. Our pets are important members of our family, our 4 legged children that never grow up.
We lost our 16 yr old bichon last year and like you it was time to say goodbye. Hugs to you and your family and may you have good times ahead reminiscing about your sweet dog.
So sorry for the loss of your sweet Benji. It’s so hard to say the final goodbye to our furry family members. Prayers for you!
So very sorry for the loss of your sweet Benji. Our fur babies give us so much and ask for so little. My thoughts and prayers are with you❤️??
I am sorry to hear about your dog. I have a 9 year old dog (too young) who has cancer and we are just loving on him whatever time he has left.
On a happier note, you look great in all those outfits and I am thinking you have lost weight.
I was thinking the same…..you have lost some weight and inches! You look great!
I’m so sorry for the loss of your dog. It is very hard. They’re like family. Thank you for your encouraging blog posts. They’re very informative and helpful. You’re beautiful inside and out.
Dear Kay,
So many of us share your pain and sorrow at your loss of your dear Benji. I know your sweet dog’s passing has left a hole in your heart. Is it not astonishing the depth of relationship we have with our dogs? They are so trusting, and depend on us for everything. I think caring for our beloved pets teaches us so much about our dependence upon our God.
May our Lord bring you comfort, and a sweet repose knowing you’ve been a good steward of a very good dog.
BTW, I so love your blog. It is beautiful, informative, interesting, well organized, and I look forward to reading your posts daily. Thank you again.
Oh Dear Kay…….I am so so sorry for your loss? of Benji?. I could not imagine how you must feel and I am so sad for you……you have to get another, not to replace him but to give you back that love again?❤️. They do bring us so much unconditional love. Our CJ (Shih-Tzu) will be 14, March 1.. We love our boy so much and Connor think of that day when he will not be with us any more. Take care and may God give you peace at this time.
Kay, I am sending hugs your way. I am so sorry about Benjy! I love my two pups to the moon and back and worry about them more than about my daughter or husband. Perhaps take a little break from the pooches and travel then adopt a needy pet from a shelter! I have two resues and am so happy I adopted them.
So sorry to hear about Benji. It’s so hard to lose our beloved pets.
Oh, Kay, I am so sorry for your loss of Benji. Pets are a huge part of a family and it is so hard to see them grow old or suffer or pass away. Thinking of you.
Thanks so much Bev. It is a big loss. But we are so grateful we had him for almost 16 years. Blessings!
