Some of the garments & accessories in this post were gifted by Christopher & Banks. However, I am under no obligation to share them with you. I selected the pieces and the opinions expressed are voluntary and genuine. Thank you for supporting the retailers that help support this blog.

Hello, and welcome to Dressed for My Day. My goal here, each and every day, is simply to inspire and encourage you to get dressed for your unique day so that you can feel beautiful and competent and engaging. You, sweet gal, have a lot to offer. And if you’re dressed for your day – your way! – you’re more likely to engage with and inspire those around you. I think you’re going to love this “summertime blues” look I’m styling for you today.

Wearing the Summertime Blues

These stripe linen blend pants are so comfortable, but also casually stylish. I love the relaxed fit and the generous but not overly ballooned legs. These pants are one of those selections that honestly just doesn’t look all that great on Christopher & Banks’ website. But in real life (and hopefully in these photographs) they look sophisticated and chic.

I’m wearing a size small in the stripe linen blend pants and they are still very roomy on me. They do not come in petite sizes, but these similar linen blend pants do. Both are available in plus sizes.

At least for me and my body shape and proportions, this outfit looks best with the indigo linen blend top tucked in loosely. I’m wearing a small in the top. Again, it runs pretty large. Which is another reason I like it tucked.

If you’re hesitant to tuck in a top like this, I’d give it a try. Play with it a little. Remember, keeping proportions balanced really trumps trying to look thinner. For the most part, we can’t really fool anyone about how full our figure is. But we can create aesthetically pleasing proportions that help us look our very best.

But since I know some of my readers would want to leave the shirt untucked (and it does have a pretty feature along the hemline), I took a couple of photos with the shirt out, too.

By the way, these stripe linen blend pants are 60% off right now. And if you use code 73478 at the checkout, you’ll save another 15%, but that ends today. You’ll get 40% off the indigo linen blend top. And I think you can use the 15% off code for it, too.

My jewelry is also from Christopher and Banks. The beaded layered necklace and the seed bead drop earrings are both 40% off, too. You’ll find other nice jewelry selections here.

I’ve had my silver flip flops for several years, but the same style is available at Talbots this year, too. And right now they’re on final sale for under $15. I love wearing metallic sandals in the summer.

I’ve really enjoyed my other solid colored linen pants this summer. And I think they’ll stay in my summer wardrobe for years. The fabric is durable and the styles are classic. That’s why I selected these garments when Christopher & Banks offered to let me style some of their new collection. And I’m pleased to report that I think these will definitely become fast favorites, too.

Blessed for My Day

Want to know how to stand out in a crowd? Stay positive when everyone else begins to criticize and critique. Remain cheerful when others begin to whine. And stay outward focused when others begin to think more of their own comforts and needs.

But those aren’t easy standards to attain, are they? We’re only human, after all! I think the motivator that can help us carry on with both dignity and grace is to remember that we are reflections of our God. We don’t just represent ourselves to the world; we are His representatives, His light. When we carry ourselves with His character we give other people a glimpse of our loving, gracious God.

Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” ~ Philippians 2:14

xoxo, Kay

  1. I like the detail on the shirt hem, but I do agree that tucking it in creates a cleaner look in this outfit. Very pretty blue on you. And your hair is looking so cute!

    1. Thanks Alison. I think my hair is actually getting a little curlier (as I was hoping it would) the longer I keep it this way. It’s still an ongoing experiment really, but I’m enjoying it. 😊

  2. The blue linen outfit looks great on you! I totally agree that the pants do not look nearly as good on their website. Perhaps you can tell about your hair styling. I love it.

    1. Hi Diane. Thanks for reading today’s post. Yes, I’ll gladly share my hair styling methods…once I figure it all out! This style is very new to me and I’m still playing around with the techniques and products. But I’ll definitely share as soon as possible. Thanks for asking!

  3. You got me messing around curling my hair. It’s more, just too lazy to go for a haircut though. I mean, once you get the hang of habinating, it’s hard to leave the house.
This is my favorite style of pants and most of mine are stripes. They never get throw out either. When they get too used, they end up as pjs. I love this blue and navy.

  4. Great outfit, I am going to check on shipping to Canada. ILOVE the top. I really like the bottom so I think I would wear it with a slim pant so I could enjoy it’s features. However with those looser pants you are right tucking is better

  5. You look so nice in this very pretty outfit, Kay! I agree with you on tucking the top in for a more flattering look, even though the detail on the hem of the top is very pretty.
