Yay! Welcome to the weekend! I hope you have plans to get out and enjoy some of the unique perks of autumn this weekend. Actually, I’ve been trying to do a little of that everyday this week. I lit a fall scented candle, added a splash of pumpkin spice creamer to my coffee, indulged in a pumpkin spice Krispy Kreme donut my husband surprised me with and cooked up a big pot of beefy vegetable soup. And tomorrow I’m going to bake my annual Fresh Apple Cake with Caramel Icing. In fact, I have an autumn surprise for you at the end of this post!
To help you get into the frame of mind for celebrating the beauty of autumn this weekend, I thought I’d share a very relaxed and casual weekend outfit. More than likely I will wear this very combo when I get home from mine and James’ hike on Saturday and I begin baking my Fresh Apple Cake.
I’ll have the sliding glass door open, letting a little of the fall chill into the house while I peel and dice the apples. And I’ll probably be playing some classical music and burning my fall candle while I whip everything up in my red Kitchen Aid mixer and pour the thick batter into my red bundt pan. Ha! Can you tell I love red?
Speaking of red, don’t you just love this rich red pebbled leather messenger bag? It’s the perfect bag for a car drive into the mountains to look at the pretty fall leaves. The listing says it’s maroon, but this photo pretty much gets the color right. It’s a beautiful deep red. It’s also more than 50% off right now.
I thought the messenger bag went beautifully with the apples in this novelty t-shirt. While you gals know I’m pretty much a classic dresser, I do think we all need a fun t-shirt or two in our wardrobe to break up all the solids and classic patterns in our rotation. But I don’t care for anything too outlandish, so this fun apple design was just right for me. The shirt is also reduced this weekend, as are my steel grey jeggings.
Oh, and you might also want to check out this other novelty tee and these blacker jeans.
My black suede driving moccasins are a couple of years old, but these, these and these are similar…and 30% off this weekend.

I hope you enjoyed today’s casual outfit post. Some days a girl just needs her favorite comfy jeans and a t-shirt! Especially when she’s puttering around the house and whipping up a Fresh Apple Cake. Speaking of that cake, here’s the recipe to the Fresh Apple Cake Recipe I make every fall. Let me know if you use it! I’d love to hear how it turned out and if you shared it with anyone.

Blessed for My Day
One day a few years ago I was driving home from a Bible study at our church when the Lord sent me a clear message. I had been grappling for some time with an issue that I couldn’t seem to resolve. The Lord had led me to Psalm 27:14 months earlier in the situation, and I had even memorized the verse. But I was having a hard time waiting on God to work in my dilemma. My resolve to allow Him to work was weakening and I wanted to get in there and fix things myself. As I drove home that day I boldly – arrogantly – told the Lord that I was tired of waiting and I was going home to make a phone call and set things right. It was time for me to do something!
Just after I had made my proclamation, a yellow Volkswagen drove past me and caught my eye. On the back of the bug – not on the license plate or a bumper sticker, but scrawled across the yellow back panel on the vehicle in black paint – was printed, “Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; yes, wait for the Lord.” I kid you not. So I waited. And God worked. Yes, He absolutely did. Today that situation is completely resolved. And He did it all. All by Himself. To God be all the glory.
Wait for the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord. ~ Psalm 27:14

Barbara
Hi Barbara, you’re so welcome. I hope you enjoy it! Thanks for reading!
Thank you for the recipe. I am going to make an apple cake for book club next week, and I have several recipes, but I like to try new ones. I’m going to make this for book club.
Oh wonderful! You’ll have to let me know how it turns out. Good luck!
Kay, this is such a cute look – love the jeans! Your Blessed For My Day message is so good. I can tell such a big difference between when I wait for the Lord and when I don’t!!

Hi Dianna, Thanks for stopping by today. Yes, waiting on the Lord can be so difficult, but definitely worth it in the end! Blessings, sweet lady!
Kay – love your posts! I love the apple tee shirt from Talbots but wonder how it is cut. I usually wear a M but don’t like too much cling plus I need ample room in the bust. Did you find this to be a “roomy” tee or a fitted tee. Thanks – enjoy your hike tomorrow in this glorious weather (I live in Green Valley!).
Hi Chris. Welcome to Dressed for My Day. I’m glad you’re enjoying it. I’m wearing the small, and I don’t like things to be too snug either. Sometimes I do size up to mediums for that reason. But when I first tried this shirt on in the small it felt not tight, but definitely not loose either. However, with just a little wear it began to feel much looser. So if you normally wear a medium in Talbots clothing, you should be fine with the medium. I even have wide shoulders and sometimes size up for that reason, but this tee is definitely more roomy. Hope that helps.
Yes, we are having some wonderful weather, aren’t we? I just got home from my picnic with my friend. It was so very nice out!
I love reading your blog everyday, and your classic style. I copy many of your outfits.
I especially loved BFMD today! I love how God spoke to you. He arranged for a person to buy the yellow Volkswagen, to put that sticker on it, and drive on the same road and at the same time as you! Who could miss seeing a yellow Volkswagen! Our God is amazing!
I know! Crazy love, right?
Kay, I have to tell you that I bought the charcoal Talbot Jeggings today! Thank you so much for your great modeling! They looked so good on you that I used your link to Talbots. I have a Talbots in Carlsbad outlet mall called The Forum It is 10 minutes from my house at the beach! So I could try them on since I never bought jeans there. I am a perfect 6 Petite. I love them and I got the sale price. You were right about Talbot ‘s jeans. They are soft and comfortable and flattering! Love them! ?
Oh I’m so glad you like them! Yay!!☺️
