Hello, dear gal! And welcome to Dressed for My Day. I’m thrilled that you’ve stopped in for a fashionable moment. Let’s see what I can do to oblige you. How about a long sleeve leopard tee served up with a bold splash of red? That’s one of my favorite combinations for a look that is both on trend and classic.
Ladies, leopard print is not going anywhere! Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. And you don’t have to treat it as a print; style it like a solid. That means you can even wear it with other prints. But most importantly, while I do generally encourage us older gals to steer clear of prints that could age us, we absolutely do not have to stay away from this animal!
My long sleeve leopard print tee is marked down 30% and last I checked it was still well stocked. This t-shirt is uber soft and will be so versatile throughout the fall and winter, maybe even into the spring. The 60% cotton, 40% Lenzing® modal tee has plenty of stretch, but keeps its shape. I sized down to a small for a very comfortable fit. I’ve tucked mine in for better proportions, but you could absolutely leave it untucked, too. The tee features a crew neck, straight hem and a back seam for a flattering fit.
I know of no more classic way to wear leopard than to group it with comfortable denim and a swath of red. My red cardigan is from last year’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, but they have one this year from the same brand. It may be a little deeper red, but it looks just like it on the web site. I’m wearing a medium in the sweater. It also comes in a deeper red pomegranate that is just lovely! I do have some more economical options in the shopping widget.
I’m wearing my AG ankle jeans from last year, too. But these are very similar; same style, just a different shade. I’m wearing a 30, TTS. My jeans feature a split raw hem that actually runs pretty long, even on my 5’8″ frame, so I cuffed them twice.
A reader asked me just yesterday about whether or not it is okay to roll up your jeans to cuff them. Yes! In fact, when wearing booties like these, you want your jeans to hit just above the shaft, exposing just a hint of skin. So you can roll them up once or more. But I’d suggest only cuffing skinny, boyfriend or girlfriend jeans. You can cuff straight jeans if they have a very fitted, slim silhouette.
I’ve linked to more economical jeans in the shopping widget. But I absolutely love my AGs. They are by far my favorite premium brand of jeans. So if you’re considering trying premium denim, I do suggest you start with them. You can check out Nordstrom’s AG collection or Nordstrom Rack. They do go on sale, so I suggest adding some to your Nordstrom wish list and watching them.
My boots are my investment shoe purchase for the season. I don’t mind spending money on a good pair of boots that I know I’ll wear for years. These Thursday Downtown Boots in Sedona are handcrafted from hand-finished Italian leather and they feature premium hardware and a cushioned insole. Because they are such a classic style, I know I’ll wear them for years. And honestly, they’re no more expensive than lesser made boots from other brands. I also have the Captain lace-up boots (in Old English) from Thursday Boots, and can’t say enough good things about this manufacturer. They advertise high quality at honest prices, and that’s definitely how I’d categorize this brand.
Speaking of brands that deliver, Brighton recently sent me this beautiful bourbon brown Pretty Tough Phone Organizer to share with you. They wanted to send me something that I thought my readers would enjoy and I chose this phone organizer because I know so many of my gals like to go to farmer’s markets, museums, boutiques and coffee shops carrying just the essentials. I love the ease of slipping my (quite large!) phone and a few cards into this modern and richly crafted crossbody for hands-free browsing. I’m also able to get my reading glasses easily and safely into the sizeable back pocket that you can’t see here.
The Pretty Tough Phone Organizer also comes in black and stone leather with a snake print inset. And you can check out their other selections of phone organizers and full size organizers here. The fuller size options are great for travel or a day out, providing ample space for sunglasses and lipstick, too. Oh, and Brighton has a beautiful selection of face masks, because, you know, that’s a thing these days!
SPECIAL ALERT: Brighton has generously offered a FREE SHIPPING code just for my readers. That’s you! Yay! Use code KAYFREESHIP for free shipping on this lovely Pretty Tough Phone Organizer or anything else you purchase from Brighton. Total cost must equal over $70. I’m not sure how long this code will last.
I capped off my leopard and red look with my reversible leather belt (30% off), my favorite lightweight teardrop earrings and these fantastic wooden bangles. They’re also lightweight and so fun to wear.
I carried along my black sneakers to show you this outfit toned down to a more stay-at-home level, but I decided you could visualize that well enough without me snapping a photo. Truly this look is so versatile, comfortable and effortless. But it comes together looking so impressive and current. Can’t you just see meeting a girlfriend for an alfresco lunch in this get up? Change into the sneakers, and it’s a perfect outfit for a backyard dinner with your honey, too.

Do you want to be healed? When Jesus asked the lame man at the pool of Bethesda this question, He may (or may not) have been referring to the man’s physical maladies. But let’s put physical illnesses aside temporarily. Do you want to be healed? Of your hurting heart, your bitterness, your depression, your anger, your regrets, your gluttony, your addictions, your grief?
Honestly, I’ve met a lot of women who would rather swim all day in the pool of Bethesda, so to speak, rather than be healed of what ails their souls. Shoot, I’ve swum a few laps in that pool myself – a few more than necessary at times! Sometimes the sicknesses of our soul become idols we feed…because they feed something in us. Hmm. Girlfriend, come out of that pool! Jesus can heal your hurts. I know that first hand. I truly do. If you’d like to know more about my story (and another guy’s), you might want to check out my Bible study, Joseph: Keeping a Soft Heart in a Hard Place.
Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, in Aramaic called Bethesda, which has five roofed colonnades. In these lay a multitude of invalids—blind, lame, and paralyzed. One man was there who had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to be healed?” ~ John 5:2-6
Gorgeous Kay….one of my favorite Fall ensembles so far that you have styled. Animal print is very versatile and so much fun to wear. Have a great day.
~🦋Lisa🦋~
Thanks Lisa. I’m glad you enjoyed the post. Thanks so much for sharing today. Have a good one! 🍁
Of all of the outfits you have styled recently, this one is by far my favourite! All the pieces come together in such a beautiful look. Thanks, Kay!
Yay! 🙌🏻
Oh, how nice you look in this fabulous fall outfit! I have a hard time convincing my brain that most of the animal prints can be treated as a solid. Boy, you gave yourself a double whammy yesterday. I love DD’s iced coffee, with the pumpkin flavor now, and I also had a few of the pumpkin munchkins yesterday. They are so very good! Another good pumpkin item available now, is pumpkin cream cheese. It’s really good. Another great BFMD, and I will be reading your Bible study on the topic when I have time later today. Make it a great day!
Thanks for sharing, Ginger. Yes, I love all the pumpkin! And then by the time Thanksgiving comes around…I’m done! Ha!
Love this outfit, and it looks so cute on you! I’ll be sure to try this combo. Also, your curly hair was styled so cute, but I love the straight hair look you’re back to. For some reason, it’s more flattering to you!
Thanks so much Sylvia. 🥰
Lovely outfit today. As for the red, can it be a darker red? Or bright better? How about a bright red knit blazer? Purchased one from Talbot’s spring collection for a great sale price. Have a wonderful day. Do happy to have found your blog.
Absolutely! Wonderful choices. I have a red blazer from Talbots that I love, too. ❤️
What a great look! Something I never would have thought of putting together and it looked great.
Well there ya go! Wonderful! ❤️
Love this look today Kay and you should know, I love all things leopard!
I really like the pop of red to add to the mix, very nice.
Blessings,
Great! Thanks for sharing Holly. I know we’re kindred spirits on the leopard thing! 🙌🏻
Hi Kay. I love this outfit style on you. The ensemble really makes ready for the new season. We just got our first cold front in Southeast Texas after a very active Hurricane season, it is nice to see Fall. Thank you for reminder of flu shot. Have a blessed day.
You bet! Happy fall, gal!
I really like this look. Leopard print and red is eye catching and of course this look suits you. The boots and phone case so cool!
Thanks for BFMD; it never fails to bless.
Have a wonderful day, Kay,
Suzanne
Wonderful. I’m so glad the BFMD resonated with you. ❤️
I so enjoy your post but I must ask, when you said there are some prints we shouldn’t wear as they’ll age us more, what were you referring to? I need to stay away from those. Lol
Hahaha! Anything that looks old-fashioned, for instance calico. I say that but then I styled a calico print dress just a few weeks ago! Ha! Mainly we need to remember that prints don’t stay current as long as solids do. So we won’t be able to wear this year’s prints two years from now and still look current. Also, when you just really want to look your classiest, it’s just wise to choose solids. Check the solids and the prints I Your own closet. You’ll probably agree that the solids appear more timeless, classic.
Kay, I also got my flu and shingles shots this weekend!! Definitely should have treated myself to a donut and coffee! My arm hurt for 3 days🙄 Love your outfit today!!
Hahaha! Yeah, my arm with the shingles shot is definitely hurting the most. I probably should have moved it more yesterday after the injection. 😉
What a great look Kay! Leopard is my signature print and I love to wear it with pops of color like you did today. I’ve got shoes, skirts, tees and sweaters of all sorts. I even have a leopard mask, because as you said it’s a thing now. I won’t be wearing too much in the fashion shoe / boot department for a while as I broke my ankle yesterday. But I still enjoy looking at ALL of it🥰
Oh no!!! I’m so sorry about your ankle. I hope it heals fast. 🥰
The question is, when you start Fall off with this fabulous look, how do you top it? I really hate bringing out Winter clothes to add to my all ready tortured closet. Love BFMD. And now on to great new video Wednesday, I look forward to that.
Thanks Eve!
I love everything about this outfit! And I like the way you pulled back some of your hair. Don’t remember seeing that style on you before. Very cute!
Haha! I do it that way very rarely. 😉
You said that you got the flu shot and the shingles shot at the same time. Can you tell me if it was painful and did you start feeling bad after the shingles shot?? I was told that it could make you feel sick.
Hi Dianne, Yes, I got both shots Monday. I didn’t really mean to, it just happened that way. Yes, I did feel flu-like for about 36 hours afterward. And my arm that received the shingles vaccine was sore for a little over two days. And I’ve heard that the second dose of the shingles vaccine can be even worse. But I had such a bad case of the chicken pox that I knew I needed to get the shingles vaccine. So I feel like it will be worth it. The shot itself was not bad. And I think next time I will make sure I move that arm around more after getting the shot. and I may take some acetaminophen right after the shot, too. Tylenol helped me feel better.
