Happy Friday, gals! And welcome to Dressed for My Day. I’m thrilled to be bringing you another sweet find from Evy’s Tree today. Those sweet gals gifted me this precious baby blue gingham cotton shirt, and I couldn’t wait to style it for you. Let’s see if I managed to keep this fresh print current and chic.

Looking Chic with Baby Blue Gingham

While I certainly can wear this darling baby blue gingham shirt with more casual pairings such as blue jeans, white denim or a jean skirt, I decided to attempt using it in a more swank ensemble.

I simply paired this 100% cotton shirt with my smooth front white dress slacks. I added dressier accessories such as my nude patent leather ankle strap sandals and simple gold jewelry.

Well, actually I did add a couple more pops of white with my white wicker and leather shoulder bag and these darling white beaded sphere earrings. All in all I created a very chic, monochromatic look so that the baby blue gingham shirt could steal the show and shine.

I pulled my hair up in a pony tail, situating it so that I have just a little lift and fullness on the top of my head. I think this keeps the look fresh and vibrant, but also lends a touch of sophistication. Plus, it shows off these sweet earbobs. Earbobs. That old-fashioned word just seems to fit these sweet things!

To level up this outfit even more, I added this smart white linen blend blazer. You know I’m loving me some blazers recently, and I’m so glad I ordered this one during the Talbots Friends & Family Sale. It’s beautifully tailored and goes on like butter! I’m in love, and you better believe you’ll be seeing more of it.

Oooh, ooh, ooh! Talbots has extended their Friends & Family Sale through May 5th, so you can still get this blazer for 30% off. Plus, if you use the code MOM40 you get one regular price item (like this blazer!!!) 40% off. It’s available in petite and plus sizes, too. I’m wearing a TTS 8, and it feels wonderful on.

So what do you think? Did I manage to make this baby blue gingham shirt look chic and current? Yes! But it’s going to be oh so fun pairing it with my denim, too. I hope you’ll take a look at all of Evy’s Tree’s newest additions. And let me know if you’d like to see more of them. They’ve offered me the opportunity to share more of them, so I’m game!

Blessed for My Day

Do you sometimes wonder if you God hears you? I do. There have been seasons in my life when the prayers were long, the wait was longer, the silence was deafening and the ache was painful. While some days I managed to put one foot in front of the other, some days I felt too hopeless to press on.

But I learned through that season that God can be trusted. I also discovered that even when I felt that He wasn’t hearing me or responding, He actually was. God proved faithful and near to me during that long, hard season. So I know He is faithful and near to you. Have confidence in that today.

This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him. ~ 1 John 5:14-15

  1. Kay, you look amazing in the baby blue color and yes…your ponytail definitely gives you a vibrant and fresh look. Thank you for the BFMD as I needed this reminder while going through a waiting season that is draining my energy and I’m pretty energetic. I’m not giving up though. ~Lisa~

  2. Good morning Kay,
I think the gingham blouse and white pants look adorable on you. Very fresh and well put together. Thank you for your insight on “ Blessed for my day”. I treasure the wisdom. Have a great week end.

  3. As Lisa noted first, this look is so “fresh” and “vibrant”! Those exact words came to my mind too! Love how you opted to go dressier rather than casual, which I wouldn’t have thought of but really makes the shirt stand out. Thanks for letting us know about Evy’s Tree–new to me. And your BFMD is so encouraging!!!!!!!

    1. You know, Jena, I never really know where I’m going when I’m given something like this sweet shirt to style. And often I’m surprised myself when the outfit is all put together. But I do love the look, and it’s a very versatile shirt. ?

  4. I love anything with white in the summer and that gingham looks great on you. I’m from New York and as child I used to eat Taylor Ham sandwiches for lunch almost everyday. Haven’t had one in years though. It’s still cold here. I am anxiously waiting for the temperature to warm up so I can pull out my whites!!!

    1. Oh, that is so fun to hear!! Our friends told us all sorts of stories about food memories. We had such a good time talking about the different foods we grew up with. I grew up in Georgia, so I had all the southern things. And my husband grew up in the west with Mexican food. I can’t wait to tell my friends that one of my readers ate Taylor ham sandwiches every day growing up. Thanks for sharing that with me! ?

  5. Hi Kay, I love this outfit on you, I especially love it with the blazer. I shopped Talbots for the first time last weekend, and found I love their chinos. I walked away with 3 pair! I got their card, so got 15% off, the friends & family 30% off, the special they were running, $20 off each pair, and 15% off because it was my birthday. I walked away thrilled with my deals, and absolutely love the pants! Thank you for introducing me to this brand, I had heard of them, but had never checked them out before. I also shared your blog with the two wonderful ladies that helped me in the store. They were excited to check your posts out. I am enjoying all of your posts, and am trying to go through your links when I shop. I have also bought the chinos you styled from lands end, and am very happy with those. You have me adding lots of color to my life this spring! I also love the wisdom you share in your BFMD, todays really resonates with me. Thank you and have a blessed day!

    1. Oh Cindy this is so fun to hear!! I’m so glad you liked what you found at Talbots. And you really racked up some deals! Way to go!! Thanks so much for sharing this with me. ?. Enjoy!!

  6. You look fabulous. The blue on you is perfect and I also love your hair in the pony tail….. Also going through a long waiting period. However, I know God is with me. Have a blessed day.???

    1. Thanks Patricia. Yes, persevere in prayer. And wait well!! Maybe I need to talk a little about that next… Thanks for sharing. ?

  7. You look amazing in that gingham shirt, and you glow from the inside! That’s the Holy Spirit shining out — in my opinion!

Quick question. . .often when I tuck in a blouse, I have so much fabric that it creates a “diaper effect” with bunching under my slacks. How do you get such a smooth look? Is it the size of the pants (maybe running loose?) or is it shapewear holding everything close to your body? Just wondering.

Have a super day! You do make a difference for your readers!

    1. Thanks Betsy. ? this shirt is not especially full or long for one thing. I think that’s the main thing really because I know exactly what you mean. I’ve had that bunchy thing happen too. And yes, these pants are not especially snug. Have a blessed day! ?

  8. Kay, That shade of blue really brings out your eyes and makes your face glow even more. I’d give you a ?on this outfit. Love BFMD! Have a fabulous weekend!

  9. Kay, you look stunning here! What a beautiful outfit on you. That shirt is really tempting me- so fresh and lovely.

  10. I agree with everyone else, you look beautiful and fresh! And i always love your hair in a ponytail.it gives you a little extra sass!

    1. Thanks so much, Cindi. I really used to not like myself with a ponytail at all, but I’m learning to work with them a little better and like them more. Thanks so much for reading and leaving a comment. ?

  11. Love the blouse! I agree, it’s a beautiful, fresh look!
I love me some Taylor Ham…NJ born and raised!

  12. Such a cute blouse Kay. I can picture it with a white jean skirt or blue jean skirt also. Your hair looks cute in a pony tail!
