Hello and welcome to Dressed for My Day. I asked my daughter Abigail to join me for today’s post. If you saw her in Tuesday’s post, you may notice that these photos capture a different side of my 25-year-old daughter. Yep, here we spiffed up a little to share summer fashions that work for brunch, lunch or even a couples gathering.

I often opt for shorts and a pretty top when going out during the summer. And I can’t get enough of this leopard print ruffle tie neck top. It’s lightweight, soft on the skin and cool. Plus it’s just a beautiful, chic leopard print. I’m wearing the small.
My shorts are fan favorites at Loft. I’ve had several pairs of these Riviera shorts and many of my friends swear by them, too. Mine are in classic pink, but they really look a little peachy to me. I’m wearing a size 6 and they have a 6″ inseam. They’re available in about 13 colors, but are selling out in some of them.
Both my shorts and leopard print top are 40% off today with code VACAY. By the way, I plan on wearing this silky leopard print top through the fall and potentially into the winter. It’s light enough to layer easily under jackets and cardigans.
I kept my jewelry classic and easy. I’m wearing my favorite palm necklace with my classic gold hoops and my moon & star studs.
Abby recently picked up this red linen wrap dress at Gap. By the way, like me, Abigail is 5’8″, so you can see that the dress is pretty long, hitting her at the knee. She’s wearing an X-Small. It does have a small privacy snap at the front.
This dress is not quite as vibrant as it appears in this sun-drenched photo. But it is a darker red than what is shown on the website. The linen dress is also available in yellow, navy and dusty pink. And it’s marked down today.
You won’t see me wear these pretty necklaces anymore. I gave them to Abigail when she was visiting. And it wasn’t because I don’t love them or wear them. Dainty layering necklaces like these are very youthful and contemporary, so I’ll probably get more similar ones for myself eventually. (See this post for more ways to look younger.)

Blessed for My Day
We gals can be pretty emotional, huh? Well, this gal can be pretty emotional any how. And if I’m not careful I can let my emotions rule me. Before I know it I’ll have worked myself into a tizzy! I’ll doubt what I know to be true, fear what hasn’t yet even threatened to happen, regret things that can’t be changed and long for that which is out of the question. My emotions can take me down a dangerous path.
But there is a way to retrace my steps and return to a calmer place. I’ve learned the benefits of meditating on truth. When doubts, questions, regrets or fears begin to overwhelm me and my emotions begin to rule, I know it’s time to pause and meditate on what is true. I dwell on scriptures that soothe me, give me hope and provide clarity. I reflect on God’s character so that He becomes large again and my emotions become tamed. And I turn my eyes upon Jesus and the things of this world grow dim in comparison. Are you doing the work of controlling your emotions so they don’t control you?
But I have calmed and quieted my soul,
like a weaned child with its mother;
like a weaned child is my soul within me. ~ Psalm 131:2
Your daughter is Gorgeous! She looks like a Movie Star in that dress! I can shop my closet for your look Kay except I have different color shorts. I have tan Bermuda shorts. Otherwise same blouse,shoes,etc.

I can’t tell you how much I needed to read your BFMD this afternoon. I allowed my emotions to fall down the slippery slope of doubt and despair earlier. Scripture and your wise words helped to set me right side up again. Even though I know God’s more than capable and He has my back, I see how vulnerable I am to the enemies lies. It’s a battle but it belongs to the Lord, and I’m so glad I’m on His side. Have a blessed day!

Your daughter is a natural at taking photos so you can tell she’s done this before with you. It’s been fun seeing her outfits next to yours this week. I’m still on the hunt for Bermuda shorts. Just haven’t had a lot of time to shop lately. I’d love to fins some pink ones.

Oh Kay….thank you for this info and the link but I think I like your plain pink ones as I could match more tops/blouses with the plain color versus the gingham as I think I can put more tops/blouses with a plain color then the checked. I like the ones you have on…”I” just need to find a longer length as I’m to the age where I like knee length better now. I will keep watching your post and be on the lookout for pink Bermudas. :).
