Happy Friday! It’s time for me to share my daily outfits once again. It was a frigid, cold week here in Cincinnati, so I dressed as warmly as I could. But I’m also craving opportunities to dress up a little these days. Anybody else? So I tried my best to pull together some outfits that looked sharp, but also felt comfortable and warm enough for just working from home (in our cool house!).

Well, I said all that in the preamble about what a cold week it was, but that title graphic makes it look like a went to a warmer climate one day. Ha! I’ll explain in a minute. Hang with me!
Sizing Information
Just for reference, I’m 5’8″ and weigh about 155. I generally wear a size 8 or medium in dresses, tops, jackets and pants (or 29 or 30 in jeans), so that’s what I’m wearing in these looks unless I tell you otherwise. That way you can assume everything I show you is true to size unless I alert you to sizing up or down. I wear a size 9.5 shoe and, again, I’ll just let you know if I sized up or down in a shoe, otherwise it’s true to size.
Remember, most of this is old. So a lot of things are no longer available or sizes are picked over. But I’ll list what I can in the captions below the photos. I’m not taking the time to find substitutes in this post because I’d rather spend my time on sharing the hows and whys behind the outfits. I hope that works for you. But if you see something that you just really want to find a sub for, let me know and I’ll help you.
What I Wore to the Movie with My Husband
I wore this first outfit to go see a matinee with James. Theaters tend to be cold, so I dressed to be warm. I realize this doesn’t look feminine at all, but I enjoyed wearing the sweater and my black travel pants. They’re so comfortable and just pair well with everything. I guess that’s why they’re great pants for travel!
As I mentioned in my January 2022 Favorites post yesterday, these travel pants are sold out. But I’ve recently ordered these similar cropped travel pants and am anxious to try them. I think they may go with me (or on me!) to Florida next month.
Saturday I just messed around the house doing this and that. I think I wore my workout clothes a good chunk of the day and then spent the rest of the day trying on things for an upcoming photo shoot. So I never got dressed to speak of.
What I Wore to Church Sunday
Sunday it was cold and windy, but I was determined to wear a skirt. So I put on my black tights and suede boots with my pleated skirt and a warm 3/4 sleeve cashmere sweater. I had always assumed I would not like a pleated skirt, fearing that it would add visual weight. And maybe it does. I like to think it doesn’t. But who knows? Honestly, it’s just so fun to wear, so I don’t care. Hahaha!
And I think this one just has a nice weight to it and lays really pretty. It doesn’t feel fussy at all. In fact, because we took photos in this skirt Wednesday evening, I ended up wearing this to dinner that night, too. I’ll be styling it four ways this year, one for each season. Watch for the first style soon!
What I Wore Sunday PM
I don’t always share what I wear on Sunday afternoons, but it’s almost always something like this. We don’t usually get home from church and lunch until around 3 o’clock, so the rest of the afternoon I like to rest and work a little. I’ve really enjoyed these sweat pants (ok, joggers) and button up sweatshirt from Athleta. They’re both so soft, cozy and warm.
And isn’t that cool how they match my slippers from L.L.Bean? Hahaha! It’s the little things that make me happy. Oh, and that button up sweatshirt comes in a lot of other great colors, too.
What I Wore to Work from Home and for Dinner Out
Monday I worked from home all day and then we met a couple for dinner. I wore my black fleece lined pants with a grey turtleneck cashmere sweater (similar) with my black all weather boots. I love that I can wear a belt with these fleece lined pants. I think it really changes the look of these pants.
As much as I love adding some pretty color to my outfits, I sure do enjoy wearing these neutral looks, too. I just think they look sharp. I am getting up from my desk and cleaning that mirror right now. I promise it will be better next week!
What I Wore for Editing Day
Tuesday was a long day of video editing, so I wore this exact outfit that day. I didn’t take a photo, however, because I never put on any makeup that day.
I do feel so much better and more productive when I at least change out of pajamas. And putting on some shoes helps me to get up and move around a little more, rather than staying glued to my chair all day.
What I Wore Wednesday
Wednesday I published my video on tips for wearing white jeans in the winter. Personally, I’m not much of a fan of wearing white denim this time of year. But I did indeed wear them more when I lived in warmer climates. As it turns out, this video hasn’t received as many views as others, so probably a lot of my subscribers don’t care for white jeans in the winter either. But those who have watched it and commented seem to live in those warmer places.
At any rate, in the spirit of the video, I decided to wear my white jeans that day. In fact, these are not the white jeans I wore in the video. I’d ordered two pair, and this pair just arrived Wednesday. In the video I wore the white jeggings from Talbots, but these are the straight leg high waist jeans, also from Talbots.
These straight leg high waist jeans fit a little looser in the leg, obviously, and they are full length, whereas the white jeggings are more of an ankle length. I like both pair equally and could wear them interchangeably. but the straight leg high waist jeans are perhaps a little more versatile.
I topped the straight leg high waist jeans with the pretty print shirt I wore in the video. And I completed the look with these neutral colored loafers. I was so excited to share these soft beige leather loafers with you because they are extremely comfortable and versatile. But alas, they are almost sold out in the color. They do have a few more sizes at Macy’s, but I’m not sure that’s the same shade.
I would have completed the look with a belt, but, as I pointed out in the video, I didn’t have one in a soft shade that wouldn’t break up the look. For me, that’s one of the conundrums of white jeans. But these days not wearing a belt seems to be more acceptable, even when you tuck your shirt.
Thursday Working from Home
Thursday I just worked from home, but I thought I might get out at some point so I dressed warm. I wore my ivory fleece lined pants with a cashmere polo sweater in a pretty soft iris color. This sweater has been one of my favorites to wear this winter. It’s such a nice gauge of cashmere. It comes in several other nice colors and is marked down for final sale. It runs beautifully true to size; I’m wearing a medium. I love the slightly cropped length (not too short, but just right for wearing untucked) and the polo collar.
I finished the look with my suede knot loafers. Like the other neutral colored loafers above, these are selling fast. I think they’re going to work beautifully for spring, especially the earliest half.
What I Wore in My Dreams
Haha! Not really. But this is what I would have liked to have worn this week. Chico’s sent me this outfit for Valentine’s Day to share with you. And I love it! I’m saving it to wear when we go to Florida for a week in late February.
I have a love/hate relationship with Chico’s denim. I love the styles, but they often fit me a little strange. So I went up to a size 1.5 in these floral girlfriend jeans for a more relaxed fit. Sure enough, they’re a little large in the waist, but I’m going to wear them anyhow because they are so soft and I love the look of them. And right now all Chico’s denim is 30% off.
The drama sleeve top is so soft and feels great on. The smocked sleeve cuffs are gently elasticized so they don’t feel tight at all. And the drama sleeve top has such a nice drape. I think it looks great tucked in our out. It’s also available in black. Oh, and the color looks a little off in the photo above to me. The color on the website is more accurate. It has a slightly faded look.
The gold heart pendant and stretch cuff bracelet are versatile pieces I can wear Valentine’s Day and beyond. And today Chico’s has their jewelry on sale for 40% off 3 or more pieces, 30% off 2 or 25% off one piece.

Blessed for My Day
Sometimes our relationship with God can become stale as we go through the motions, but neglect to engage our hearts and minds. That’s when it begins to feel more like a religion than a relationship. A religion is man’s effort to get to God. But God offers us a relationship through faith in His Son Jesus Christ.
I’ve discovered that when my faith begins to feel more like a religion than a relationship it’s because I’m checking boxes but I’m not slowing down to engage. This week I’ve been trying to pause longer after reading my Bible and devotional to just sit before the Lord. I’m trying to spend more time praying, thanking Him for His blessings and acknowledging who He is and how He is working around me. And as a result I’ve felt closer to Him throughout the day.
“God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” ~ John 4:24
Very nice BFMD. Yes, we need to draw closer to the Lord, so we have a personal relationship with Him.
I did enjoy your video with the white denim. Not sure why you did not get more viewers on this. Even though we sometimes don’t wear white jeans in the winter, it is nice to see to get us in the mood for Spring or vacations.
Bless you.
Thanks Sherry. Sometimes it has nothing to do with the video and more to do with the habits of people too. But I wasn’t totally surprised. 😉
Thank you for all the great looks and ideas you give us.
In thinking about skirts, I have a few that are midi in length. I could use some suggestions for wearing them–especially the denim–because they can seem heavy on the lower body. I really like the dark denim (with buttons down the front) that I wear with black riding boots. Maybe a video for others like me might help—or just a post????
You are doing a great job for all of us. God bless you.
Thanks so much Jane. I’ll see what I can do. I don’t have anything like that myself, but I’ll definitely look into it. 💕
Love the pleated skirt with boots but always feel it is a spring, summer or maybe fall material. Not a winter look when I wear a thinner skirt even with a sweater.
I got soft white corduroy jeans from Talbots for Christmas . It made me want to wear white this year. I appreciate all the tips wearing white you have given.
Good morning Kay,
I just had a great experience with the ceramic company Ohom.
I purchased 2 mugs last July at the Nordstrom annual sale.
One mug developed cracks.
I contacted the customer service department, and l received a replacement within 2 dsys.!days.!!
Amazing, just thought you’d like to know, since you recommended them
Hi Kay! The pleated skirt is so nice. I really like the way you styled it. With the sweater and boots, it looks great for the season. I have a couple of pleated skirts from a few years back that I loved wearing. I’m glad to see they’re still “in.” Please keep showing us fresh ways to style them. 🙂
Thst pleated skirt is such a great color. I’ll bet you could treat it like a neutral like we do leopard or CAMO. I think it looks great on you. I might consider wearing off white pants in winter if they were a beautiful wool fabric. And lined. I like the Chicos outfit too. Red and jeans can’t be beat. BFMD always on target.
Re: white jeans in winter. I don’t wear white- I wear ivory/ bone/ecru! I have some ivory corduroy jeans that are warm and wonderful on cold days. I wear them with taupe suede boots. Also I have Eileen Fisher and La Fayette 148 pants( all bought on sale😊) that I wear winter into late Spring. A nice change from jeans or brown and black pants. In north Texas it can be 65 one day and 25 the next so my wardrobe covers all possibilities!
I am really grateful the Blessed for My day thoughts and scripture. I have been trying to remember everyday is a gift from God and I can do all things with Him by my side.
By the way I ordered the flowered shirt from Ann Taylor. I was so excited to see they had it in petite.
Hey, that’s great Debbi. I didn’t even notice that it came in petite. Thanks for pointing that out. I hope you love it!
Luv your skirt- I have about 3 but they are solids – would like to get a printed one. I haven’t viewed you white denim post yet as have had a very busy week. Personally I like winter white in the winter. I agree with you about white jeans in the winter – I like to have something to look forward to in the spring and summer. And I luv the seasons! So will read your post on white denim- I try to read all of them but I don’t always comment. Thank you too for your spiritual guidance.
Did anyone else try to use the code for the Olay products. I cannot find a place to enter the code after looking multiple times. Help! #feeling dense
Diane
Hi Diane, I’m not sure what the setup looks like on a mobile device, but on the computer screen I used the area that says, “Promo Code.” It was right under subtotal, shipping and tax and right above “Gift Certificate.” You do have to go all the way to the checkout; that’s where you put the code. So you’ll just use the code once even if you’re buying multiple items. And it works for all five of those items only.
Thank you, Kay. I see that now and figured out what I was doing wrong. Thanks for your help and the great discount!
Diane
Hi Kay,
I wanted to comment on your white jeans video. I loved it! I have been living in Arizona for the past 4 years, previously California. I do wear my white jeans with camel or black cashmere sweaters for the winter and in the summer I have more colorful tees.
I grew up in the midwest and was told no white after Labor Day. Come Easter in the spring, it was allowed. I love being free to wear what I prefer. Thank you for making the video.
Absolutely! Freedom in fashion! Thanks so much for sharing, Marilyn. It was for women like you that I made the video. 🥰
Kay, learning so much from you, is it possible for you to do a video on your process of choosing your outfit for the day, please? Do you clean and exercise before dressing for the day? Do you apply your makeup as soon as you get up or how does your day flow? Finally could you do a session on wearing belts for all types of body shapes with half tucks or front tucks. Thanks so much as I said I am learning so many things from you.
