Happy Monday! Before we get too far into July, I need to share with you my June 2021 Favorites. These are the fashion and beauty products I’m loving and using, and that I especially enjoyed in June. Some of them have been in my wardrobe for a while, and others were purchased during June. I’m also sharing with you the top 5 purchases BY YOU at Dressed for My Day during the month of June. Let’s get started.
Again, I’m shaking things up a bit this month. I’m also going to share a couple of favorite outfits. I made that decision because a couple of outfits included several of my favorite items. Plus, these are outfits I literally have to refrain from wearing on repeat throughout the week.
I wore a slightly different variation of this first outfit when my kids were visiting and we were stuck inside all day playing games. Well, we were stuck inside all day. We chose to play games. And this outfit was perfect because it’s comfy but also casual chic. Yeah, I wore a variation of this again on Saturday. Ha!
I know that outfit is on the pricey side, but I can’t stop wearing it. The cotton separates are extremely soft and cozy, but I think they look charming, too. I’ve had my silver sandals for a few years now, but Talbots is carrying them again (if they’re not sold out). And that silver Tegan Y necklace worked beautifully with sweaters this past winter, but it looks perfect here, too. Love, love, love this outfit.
Let’s move on to a few of my favorite separate items before we swing back to another outfit. As I type up this post on Sunday afternoon I’m wearing the Fresh Cut High Waist Boyfriend Shorts in light wash with a patriotic tee. They’re comfortable and just the right length. And I especially like that the leg opening is wider than some. I think blue jean shorts look much better when they have a relaxed fit.
Some sweet friends of mine gave me a generous gift card for my birthday in February with which I purchased the Coach Cassie Crossbody. I’ve loved using it for several months. But I’ve definitely used it more since the weather warmed up in June. It’s such a sweet size and has a very modern classic vibe. I think Coach bags got a little dumpy looking for a while, but they have a new designer and, in my opinion, they’re making a big comeback. This Cassie Crossbody is marked down significantly as I type up the post. I hope it still is today!
I hesitated to include my Eileen Fisher Edge leather slide sandals just because I know I have several pricey items in this list already. But truthfully, I’m probably wearing these simple shoes more than any others this summer. Again, I have to force myself to wear other things. They’re just so comfortable and versatile.
I’ve been trying to wear these starfish earrings every chance I get, which is not nearly often enough for me. And I wish I were going to the beach this summer, because then they’re the only earrings I’d take!
I received my order of this L’Oreal True Match Makeup (in Natural Buff N3) the day after I taped my beauty video. Not that I would have switched out the Mary Kay foundation I love for it, but I definitely would have mentioned it as a great drugstore foundation. In fact, I’m wearing this L’Oreal True Match Makeup quite often these days just to save my Mary Kay foundation for nicer occasions. It goes on silky smooth and wears so well. And they have an abundance of shades to choose from. Oh, and I did manage to pick the perfect shade for me on the Internet, so I bet you can, too.
Finally, I’m loving my Leopard Print Gala two strap slides. I’ve actually had these at least three years not, but I wear them no less this year than in previous summers. They’re comfortable, easy, versatile and FINALLY on sale. I paid full price for these things, but you don’t have to.
But wait. I have a few more favorites I want to give a shoutout to. First up, I finally got to wear this beautiful Roller Rabbit embroidered dress to church and I absolutely loved it. It felt comfortable and fresh and feminine.
Of course I’ve only worn it once (I’ve only worn most things once this summer!), but I absolutely adore this simple little sea salt t-shirt. It reminds me of the northern shores, both Oregon and Maine, which are my absolute favorite beaches to visit. It’s soft and fits true to size. I love how it looks with these cropped cargo chinos.
Another favorite outfit is one I shared as a fashion post, but haven’t actually worn in “real life” yet. And that’s my hiking gear from L.L. Bean. I absolutely love these shorts and shirt. I really didn’t want to take them off after modeling them. Sooo soft and comfortable and fun to wear.
Finally, my last favorite for the month is one I get to see everyday, but you haven’t really seen yet…except in the background of my mirror selfies (as seen above). I ordered this Sara 41″ Tufted Round Cocktail with Storage Ottoman from Wayfair and I absolutely adore it. It’s a perfect accent piece for my office. I will tell you that it is very heavy and required assembly, but nothing James wasn’t able to handle easily.
Yes, I absolutely will share more of my office in an upcoming post once I have it fully decorated. It’s well on the way, but I still don’t have anything on the walls.
I have one more favorite I want to share before I move on to YOUR favorites. I was putting this post to bed…and about to put me to bed!..when I remembered that I wanted to share my favorite PJs with you. I have a few pairs of PJs I’m wearing this summer, but I find myself anticipating these coming out of the laundry so I can wear them again. I confess, I do iron them. But they are so lightweight, cool and comfortable.
I wear the slub ribbed tank and the poplin pajama shorts to sleep in. And in the mornings I put on the poplin pajama shirt before going down for coffee. Sometimes I still put the poplin pajama pants (not shown) on in the evenings and mornings. My poplin pajama pants are no longer available, but they still have matching coordinates in other colors/patterns.
Now, let’s shift gears and check out YOUR favorites for June at Dressed for My Day. Of course, I don’t really know if these things are your favorites or not. But these are the top five things ordered through my links in June. In fact, there was a tie for number 5, so it’s really the top 7 items ordered. Here they are!
Interestingly, the top seven items are made up of two fashion items, two beauty, two housekeeping and one electronic. I thought that was pretty cool. Also six of them were purchases from Amazon, mostly during Amazon Prime Day.
In a tie for fifth place, you purchased 30 each of the Lancome Definicils Mascara, the E-Cloth High Performance Microfiber Dusting Glove and the Apple Airpods. I got the Apple Airpods, too, and I’m really enjoying them. I bought this Rifle Paper cover to go over my charging case.
The number 4 honor went to the IXIMO lantern linen pants. I suggested these as an alternative to my pricier Eileen Fisher linen pants. I’d love to know how they worked for you. If you purchased some of these could you let me know what you think?
Good news! The Kut from the Kloth drawcord waist pants have been restocked at Nordstrom. These pants are absolutely perfect for summer, but will also transition nicely into early fall. If you were looking at them before and couldn’t get them in your size or color preference, look again. I’m seeing the Kut from the Kloth drawcord waist pants restocked in every color except white. They fit true to size.
The second favorite among readers was the Shiseido facial razors or dermaplaning tools. I mentioned somewhere along the way that I’m using them to remove the peach fuzz on my face. Evidently many of you want to tackle that annoying fuzz, too. I do plan to produce a video on how to use them eventually. But it may be a few weeks.
Finally, about 80+ of you bought the Mellanni Sheet Sets. I really hope you’re enjoying them as much as we love ours. We have the blue paisley set and a white set. They are amazingly soft.
Well, that was longer than I meant it to be. Ha! Sometimes these posts just get away from me. If you’re still here, thank you! You’re a sweetie! If you purchased or have any of the favorites I mentioned, let me know how you’re enjoying them. I’d love to hear from you today.

Blessed for My Day
Make no mistake about it, the United States of America is not God’s chosen nation. He set the people of Israel apart unto Himself to be His inheritance, and He continues to have a unique relationship with the descendants of Abraham. As Christians, we have been grafted into that people by the sacrifice of our Kinsman Redeemer, Jesus Christ. So in that sense we absolutely are His chosen people.
But even though the U.S. is not God’s chosen nation, it is a country that has experienced the blessing of His hand. Through the years that we made choices and forged paths based on the precepts of His Word, God blessed America mightily. Can we still receive that blessing? I believe that our country as a whole is no longer seeking God and His blessing. But we absolutely can stand in the gap by humbling ourselves in prayer, crying out to Him for grace and mercy and walking obediently with Him daily. It will get harder and harder to walk with Him and live godly lives in the coming days. We must be strong, persevere and cling to His Word.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance. ~ Psalm 33:12
Kay, great posts and video this week! I am always excited to see your weekly video, but I have to confess….I almost didn’t tune in to the makeup video because I teach with makeup videos! Thank you for your great mentions of Mary Kay Lip Primer, Eye Primer and Luminous Foundation! I’ve been with Mary Kay for about 30 years now and people always guess me to be in my late 40s and I will be 61 in September! Truly, for half my life, Mary Kay is how I always get Dressed for My Day. Now, with our websites, someone can just pop in their own zip code to connect, fill a shopping cart, and even do “guest checkout” if they don’t want personal customer service. Just thought everyone would want to know! Thank you for the shout outs!
PS….I am your home economics/journalism alum also from UGA! I still live in Georgia! 😘😘
Hi Jill, I would have given even more shoutouts for Mary Kay except the video was sponsored by another skincare company, so I couldn’t. I actually was a Mary Kay consultant years ago, but wasn’t very good at it. I’m much better in this lane. But I’ve used the products for years and love them. It cracks me up and kinda saddens me when people make fun of Mary Kay as though it’s somehow out of touch. It definitely is not. The brand has done an excellent job of staying current and provides great products. My own Mary Kay consultant is a personal friend at this point, and she is very helpful to me. I always link to her store, but she always tells me to encourage women to find a consultant near them if possible.
I love that you have a home economics/journalism degree. After I’d gotten my PR degree I always wished I’d gone that route instead. I have always loved magazines, and I thought it would have been nice to have a home ec/journalism degree so that I could write for them. Alas, God had a plan. And here I am using my PR degree in ways I never even imagined at the time. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Kay,
I picked up the Loreal true match foundation and absolutely love it as well. Hope you had a wonderful 4th.
Great to hear Jean. Thanks so much for sharing.
Kay—love that white dress. When looking at the size chart, it seems that you would have to order up a size. I’m a size 6 which is normally a small. This dress shows a size 6-8 is a medium which is different than most other brands. Being not familiar with the brand of this dress, I have to assume by the size chart that it runs small. Can you shed some light on the sizing per your experience with the dress? Thank you.r
Hi Rose, Thanks for pointing that out. I usually wear a size 8 and I do indeed have the medium. So I’d say go with your size. It’s a slim fit on me, but still roomy enough. I hope that helps.
Good morning, Kay! I always look forward to getting my week started with your post! Thank you for all of your hard work. I have to say, the blessed for my day was actually refreshing to read, because it is the heart-cry of me and my husband as well. Standing in the gap with you, sister! And may God have mercy, give us courage to STAND, and bless America 🇺🇸 !
Hi Kay, I have been following your blog for several months now. I have always found fashion to be something I just couldn’t grasp, and I wondered how other women did it. But I believed in looking nice both when I go out and when I’m at home, so I kept trying. Your posts have given me motivation to go into stores again and try on clothes now that dressing rooms are open again. I’m updating my wardrobe a piece or two at a time, and feeling and looking better about how I look in the clothes I’m wearing. My pants size is the trickiest part…I need a loose waist, but that sometimes means the pants or shorts are baggy everywhere else. So I have to try on lots of clothes to find the ones that fit both my waist and the rest of me. I have an additional challenge of having an ostomy pouch following surgery in May. But gratefully, I’m finding that I can still dress nice and feel confident! So I just want to say that what you’re doing is very helpful. Thank you for being such an inspiration to me to dress for my day!
Great Post Kay…..
I really liked your post/video on beauty when you did it. And loved when you used L’Oréal True Match. Years ago I did use all Mary Kay products but through the years of moving I have had to resort to other products and one being the foundation. I really like it and have also mixed 2 colors together and it works.
Blessings,
Good post. I especially liked your BFMD
I too feel our nation and people need God’s blessing and I pray for our nation every night. My pastor also preached an
Awesome sermon yesterday and included and we should be thankful for our freedom. Hope you had a nice fourth. Our Fireworks display was awesome!
You look gorgeous in that Roller Rabbit dress!
What a great BFMD! I am with you on the path our country is taking, but that is not going to weaken my dependence on Jesus Christ. As a matter of fact, it’s making it stronger as I pray regularly for the USA. I like your favorites for the month of June. I plan on ordering the face razors. On Saturday night we had our best fireworks show for our neighborhood, at our lake, than we’ve had. Everyone really seemed to enjoy it and we appreciated all of the thank you’s we received. Are you letting your hair grow out some? Kay, would you please tell me, again, the name of the self tanner and mitt that you use? I’m thinking that if I add a little color to my lower legs, I wont mind showing them as much. Thank you!
HI Ginger. I don’t mean to let my hair grow out, but it has been a while since I’ve had it cut. I’m the worst about making hair appointments! The self tanner I use is here https://shopstyle.it/l/bv1pp and the mitt is here https://shopstyle.it/l/bv1ps But you could also try it all out with this travel kit here https://shopstyle.it/l/bv1oD From what I can tell it’s a travel size of the mousse but the regular size mitt.
I love seeing the more expensive things even if I don’t buy because they inspire me to look for a more economical version. I like it when bloggers put something similar they like for those of us who are poverty stricken. 😊
Hi Eve, I do appreciate your sweet attitude. I do try to provide similar options, but sometimes there just isn’t one. And on these favorites list sometimes I just share the favorite and not an option because, well, it wouldn’t be a favorite. Ha! Thanks as always for being here!
Hi Kay- I’m a newer subscriber and look forward to watching your YouTube videos and reading your posts and your Blessed for My Day readings every day/week. You are so inspirational! I recently turned 60- it was a difficult birthday for me. I’ve been dealing with several medical issues that have left me with unwanted weight gain and a less than enthusiastic attitude toward myself. I recently came across your YouTube channel and website and have found such inspiration in all your posts. You have helped me to start to rethink my life from so many perspectives, including beauty, fashion, fitness, and also spirituality. I’m grateful for your fashion/beauty tips and photos/videos, which help show me that I can still look beautiful at my age…and beyond! As a retired woman, your fashion hits home for me- casual, classic and contemporary. Thank You for helping to spark the new me I am becoming and the new life I am discovering and creating. I guess you never are too old to start over! So Thank You again! (Can you please tell me where the straw/wicker handbag with the brown straps sitting on the ottoman is from? It’s Beautiful! Thank You!)
Hello Lorna. Thank you so much for taking the time to share and to introduce yourself. I’m very grateful for the opportunity I have here to impact women’s lives and I’m humbled to hear that you have been affected. Thank you for sharing. The straw Dune handbag is from Brighton and unfortunately they are sold out. But you can see other of similar quality here: https://rstyle.me/+u1leSkzkwLLfFF6Z9a1Llg
This may be too late to be of use, but I got in this afternoon from golfing today–great fun. Then there were chores and supper, etc. so missed getting this off sooner, sorry. My friend and I got into golfing when her daughter bought I set of golf clubs for her. That was in 2004 and we’ve been meeting up some spring and summers to play. But I haven’t been able to play for about 3 years.
Anyway, I have two pair of the IXIMO linen pants (these are more tapered with an elastic at the back of the hem) I don’t think they are the “lantern” variety, but I could be wrong. I have really liked them. They do have a tie at the front, so one pair I took out the ties and added several belt loops made with thread so I can wear a belt instead. (learned this long ago in High School sewing classes)
I enjoyed the recap of popular items for the month of June. Thanks.
Great to hear your review of the linen pants Jane. Thanks so much for sharing. I’m sad I didn’t get to play golf with my friend as planned. She went ahead and played without me and said the course was a good one for us to play in the future.
I bought the White roller rabbit dress.
A funny name for it lol! I absolutely love it. So comfortable yet stylish. Lovely embroidery on it.
