While I generally live in shorts and pants during the spring and summer, I love having a couple of cool dresses in my wardrobe to choose from, too. That’s why I’m so pleased to share with you this paisley shift dress today. It’s the perfect dress to throw on for most any occasion during the warmer days.

A shift dress is usually somewhat straight, but can have a little shaping to it. The beauty of this style of dress is that it just skims the body, following the curves of the body, but not hugging them tight.

While I really think this dress (or any dress, for that matter) looks best on me with nude heels, I chose to style it with my black strappy sandals on this particular evening. I know I have a number of readers who never wear heels, and I wanted to show that this dress looks beautifully feminine without them.

I generally provide a back view of outfits that I think you may have question about. But you really can’t tell from this photo that the dress does not hug the rump, but only gently cascades over it. Ahem. I’m wearing my Spanx Thinstincts Girl shorts beneath my dress for no panty lines and minimal shaping.

I kept my jewelry to a minimum since the paisley print is pretty busy. Since I wanted to use my gold wristlet, I added my gold bangle and some gold dangling earrings (no longer available).

This particular knit shift dress is reduced 30%, but I’ve also included other similar dresses in the shopping widget below. Oh, and this dress comes in a pink variation as well. It’s extremely comfortable. I’m wearing a medium, whereas sometimes I do wear small in dresses. Honestly, I might could have worn the small, but I didn’t even try it.

A silky knit shift dress is perfect for church, dinner out, vacation or a shower. Do you have a colorful shift dress in your closet? If not you might want to look through the shopping widget below. I found some at all price points.

Thank you for dropping by Dressed for My Day today. Please let me know if you have any questions about the items in today’s post. It’s a short one, huh! But I think this sweet dress pretty much speaks for itself!

Blessed for My Day

Are you a hungry girl? Sure you are. We all are hungry girls. We’re hungry in our souls for love, significance, purpose and security. But when we don’t get those hungers fed from the right source, we tend to run to people, things and experiences for fleeting satisfaction.

Instead, today I encourage you to feed your hungry soul with the truth of God’s Word. When we meditate on soul satisfying truth, we become contented and grateful women with something to bring to the table. We no longer suck the people in our lives dry. And we testify to the goodness of our God.

Your words were found and I ate them,
And Your words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart;
For I have been called by Your name,
O Lord God of hosts. ~ Jeremiah 15:16

xoxo, Kay

  1. You look very pretty in this dress Kay. I’m sorry to hear you are not feeling well. Prayers for a speedy recovery.

    1. Thanks so much Deb. I thought it was just nerves or poor eating habits during our trip or something. But now I think I’ve had a virus. Hopefully it’s gone!

  2. I hope you feel better soon, Kay. That’s the worst when you have so much to do and don’t feel great.
This is exactly the kind of dress I love….easy and full of fun.

PS. I sent an email about our upcoming collab. Did you get it? I’m having issues with my emails going into spam…ugh.

    1. Hi Jodie. Thanks. Yes!! I did get it and just realized I hadn’t responded. And now I can’t find it. Let me look again and I’ll email you back. 🙂

  3. Kay, I hated reading that you are still dealing with the stomach bug. They are no fun! You look so pretty in that gorgeous dress. It does look very nice with the flats. Take care!

  4. Hope you feel better soon. Those stomach bugs are not fun. Love this dress on you and LOVE LOVE LOVE that you aren’t wearing hose or tights or have a spray tan. ( I don’t think so anyway). I know supposedly we all look better with some color but some of us just don’t tan. Spray tans are convenient but are all those chemicals really good for you? I don’t have the best legs but have decided to go bare legged while wearing my skirts and dresses this spring and summer. We shouldn’t have to be hot and uncomfortable all summer (and it is a loooong summer in the south) just because we have a few blue vein (well more than a few but who’s counting?!). Love your blog!

    1. Hahaha! I hear you. I don’t have on any color in today’s photos, but I have to admit I do have a little color on my legs now. I use Jergens Natural Glow moisturizer occasionally. https://shopstyle.it/l/2d2H But I am all for going completely au natural also. I took a little criticism for my white legs in some posts last summer, so that made me a little self conscious. But I completely agree with you. And actually a number of actresses like Nicole Kidman and Julienne Moore are considered all the more beautiful for their very white skin. ?
