Greetings from Georgia! I’m “home” visiting my family for a couple of weeks, and I have the added benefit of experiencing a beautiful Dixie Spring. Glorious! The dogwoods held on for me and the azaleas are at their peak. And a light film of green waves in the trees. I’m so grateful to be here for this delicate yet brilliant display of color and new life. Seems like a good time to share with you this pale aqua bell sleeve sheath dress…that would be lovely for a spring wedding.
I adore this Seaspray color. I don’t know whether to call it a light green, pale aqua or pastel teal, but it’s lovely and cool on the eyes. I found the Calvin Klein bell sleeve sheath dress at Dillard’s and it’s available on line in a variety of sizes.
My white flower necklace is a Dillard’s exclusive and, while I didn’t choose to purchase them, they also carry earrings in this same cheerful pattern. I love this pastel dress with white accessories.
This Calvin Klein Hayden Floral Cross -Body handbag brings a splash of color to the ensemble without distracting from the simplicity of the dress. It’s the perfect size bag to take to a special event where you simply need a lipstick and a few other items. The chain is a modern touch that makes the bag look youthful and fun. It also comes in a black print and other size bags as well.
I just bought this modern silver bangle, but I can’t find it anywhere on line. So frustrating. But I’ve located a few perfectly suitable alternatives in this Robert Lee Morris bracelet and this one.
This is kind of a weird photo of my feet. For some reason it looks like my shoes are on the wrong feet! I promise you, they’re not. Ha, ha! And as you can see from the other photos, the shoes really have a nice line. I think it’s just the way I’m posing my feet in this picture. I’m still learning, y’all! But I just want to point out that these Antonio Melani Jolai Dress Sandals do not have an ankle strap, and it’s so difficult to find shoes these days that don’t. Ankle straps are decidedly in, but when you have thick ankles like mine you really don’t want to wear an ankle strap because it highlights the thickness. This line is much better, even if this photo doesn’t really demonstrate that. Oh, and these lovely 3.1″ heels also come in black and a beautiful dark pink.
By the way, yes, white shoes are back in. I know, it was a challenge for me to buy these. I’m so used to wearing nude heels with my dresses at this point. But I wanted to present this ensemble to you with a modern vibe, and white really is more cutting edge than nude right now. And I love a true pastel with white.
I really like the elegant simplicity of this bell sleeve sheath dress with just the one added feminine detailing on the sleeve edges. It’s perfect for a wedding, tea, afternoon concert or recital or anniversary celebration. The silhouette is slimming and the pastel hue is on trend. And I think it would look especially lovely on black or brown skin.
The photos for today’s post were taken by my friend Hannah Whaley. She is a professional photographer based in southeast Arizona, but she does travel some for event photography. If nothing else, you’ll want to visit her website just for the eye candy. Hannah’s a dear.
For another idea for a spring wedding or semi-formal event check out this previous post.
You can click on the photos in the shopping widget below for more details and availability. Let me know what you think about this ensemble. And tell me what special events you are attending this spring. I’d love to know where you’re going and what you’re wearing.
Blessed for My Day
When I put on a beautiful new dress it makes me feel lovely and attractive. My outward apparel changes how I feel, and probably how I present myself to others. In the same way, we can choose to put on attitudes within that will affect how others see us and interact with us. I may not wear a beautiful dress every day, but I can certainly choose to wear a lovely demeanor.
So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. ~ Colossians 3:12-13
I love the white shoes with this outfit, Kay!! I’ve just started embracing white shoes too, and it’s a fun approach!!
XOXO

It’s definitely a shift in thinking, but I do love these shoes. Thanks so much for being here, Jodie!
Really love those shoes! Wish I had a reason to order them!
The accessories are just perfect with that dress!! Especially that purse!
Yes, I love them, too! So fun!
So glad Jolynn shared your blog with us!! I love this dress and have been looking for a dress for my son’s wedding this month. It’s not formal as in tuxedos on men. What would you recommend? Mother of bride is wearing a traditional short gray dress, lacy and sparkly. I’d love ideas! Brides colors are pink, white and some gray.
So nice to have you here today, Laurie. Thanks so much for dropping in. How exciting to have a wedding in the family. My son is engaged, but they haven’t yet set a date. I’m so glad for you! I do think a solid colored sheath dress like this one or with different sleeve options would be lovely. I think a solid works best with pictures and such. And I think it’s nice to play into the wedding colors as the mother of the groom. So maybe a shade of pink that works well for you – pastel pink, icey pink or a soft rose. I’d probably steer clear of anything real bright unless the bridesmaids are also wearing a brighter color. I love this Maggy London lacey sheath at Nordstrom: http://shopstyle.it/l/EyA5 and this pearl embroidered sheath at Dillards: http://shopstyle.it/l/EyBt . This mesh sheath dress is stunning in blush: http://shopstyle.it/l/EyBT And for bell sleave dresses similar to the one I’m wearing in this post, I like these two at Dillard’s: this Calvin Klein – http://shopstyle.it/l/EyCn and this Preston & York in very berry – http://shopstyle.it/l/EyCF . As I was looking I did notice that some pink dresses are so pale that they may compete a little too much with the bride’s white dress, so I do think I would stay away from those. You don’t want your dress to look white in the photos.
All the very best to you and your family. I know you’ll look beautiful and have a lovely day no matter what you’re wearing! Enjoy!
Kay
