I don’t normally post on Saturdays, but I have gotten in so many cute Spring things lately that I wanted to show them to you. It’s been fun trying on garments that are lighter in weight, brighter in color and promising of warm days to come. In today’s pre spring try-on session I’m sharing some jeans, tops, sweaters and accessories. Oh, and there’s a pretty dress and a very functional trench coat in here, too!

Sizing
I weigh about 155 on a good day and I’m holding steady so far at 5’8″ tall. I have a pear or hourglass shape and balanced proportions. That’s just to give you reference when you’re looking to see how these items fit on me.
I generally wear size 8 in tops, bottoms and dresses. But at I sometimes wear the curvy fit size 8 if they are available. I generally wear a medium in all of those pieces, too. I wear a size 9.5 shoe almost without fail. So unless I tell you otherwise, those are the sizes I’m wearing. I’ll also alert you if something runs small or large; otherwise, assume it runs true to size. That way I can focus on other factors.
Pre Spring Try-On Session
Most of these items not marked down or included in any current promotion. A few are as we move on down the list. But you can always bookmark the page and check back here a little later to see if they’ve gone down any.
Bow Neck Shell // I’ve fallen in love with pretty blouses lately, and I’ve also been looking specifically for pretty shells to wear under blazers and cardigans. This Bow Neck Shell is so lovely. It feels amazing, fits slightly large and is fully lined. It also comes in a lovely pale yellow.
My blazer is no longer available, but this one is similar. I’m simply grabbed it and put it on so you can see how the Bow Neck Shell looks under a jacket. That’s where it really shines. I’m especially looking forward to wearing it under my white linen blazer, which is stored away currently.
Verdict: Keeping.
DL1961 Jeans Patti High Waist Raw Hem Straight Leg Jeans // I actually purchased these jeans by mistake. I thought, from looking at the photo on the website, that they were ankle length jeans. That model must be very tall. These full length jeans actually have a 31″ inseam, so I have to wear them with a heel. In fact they look better with a higher heel than I have on even. But I’ve definitely fallen in love with DL1961 jeans, especially in the Patti. I’m wearing a 30 and they’re actually a tad bit roomy with wear. I might could have worn the 29. But I’ve kept them now. These jeans feel sooo good. And I think they’re a flattering jean all around.
Verdict: Keeping. I wore them yesterday.
I said I ordered those jeans by mistake. Let me explain. I had ordered these DL1961 Patti’s (shown below) in the ankle length, but had sized up to a 31 on another blogger’s recommendation. They were too large, but they didn’t have a 30, so I ordered the jeans above instead.
DL1961 Patti High Waist Straight Leg Jeans // I’m really enjoying the weight and feel of the denim from Dl1961. They feel like jeans are supposed to feel, in my estimation. They’re a nice weight and feel authentic, but they do have stretch in them. These DL1961 Patti High Waist Straight Leg Jeans in the ankle length (27″ inseam) feel better on me than any jeans I’ve ever put on, but they’re too big. Then I realized they have them at Garnet Hill and used a 30% off coupon to order them there. If you shop through my link to Garnet Hill you can get 30% off your full order, too. The jeans are here, but you’ll need to access the website through this link to get my 30% off deal.
Verdict: Returned these for the next size down.
Cotton Blend Slub Drama Top // I actually shared this Cotton Blend Slub Drama Top in last week’s daily outfits post, but I thought I might as well give it another shout out since I showed it with these jeans. I’m definitely taking this top with me to Florida. It feels great and makes a nice transitional top going into spring.
Verdict: Keeping. This top was gifted to me by Chico’s.
Ribbed Wrap Top // This is actually a faux wrap top, but it does create that same silhouette. It fits true to size and feels great. The Ribbed Wrap Top has lots of elastic in it, so it drapes easily on your body. I don’t have any problem keeping the v-neck in place, but I think that is probably very individual depending on size and body shape. I don’t think I had steamed it when I tried it on here, but it later lay really pretty. This top is also available in black.
Verdict: Undecided.
Floral Puff Sleeve Wrap Top // I later steamed this Floral Puff Sleeve Wrap Top, too, and it looked better afterwards. I don’t know why I didn’t take photos then??? Anyhow, I’d say this top fits true to size to slightly small. If I keep it, I’ll keep this size. But it doesn’t have quite the same drape on me that it does on the model in the photo. I think if I sized up, however, the front would gape open. This top is also a faux wrap top. But this silhouette is so nice to wear with jeans and pants, especially if you don’t like to tuck your top in.
Verdict: Undecided.
By the way, I just slipped those jeans on because I thought it made more sense to show these spring tops with cropped or ankle length jeans. That’s how I’ll be wearing them for sure. I purchased these in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale last July, but these are similar.
Twill Trench Coat // I love a classic trench coat for spring (and fall). I’m not sure I personally need a new one, but I knew many of my readers would be looking for one this spring, so I thought I’d try this one out. The great thing about this Twill Trench Coat is that it is truly functional. It’s nicely lined, includes a back vent and back storm flap, and the epaulets on the shoulders are detachable. It is double-breasted and includes a sturdy hook for full closure at the top. This is not a raincoat, but most true trench coats are not. I just wanted you to be aware. This is a sturdy coat; it’s not just for decoration, as some that I’ve seen really are. It fits true to size or size down. I’m wearing the medium and it’s quite roomy. But if you’re planning to layer underneath, that might be a good thing. It’s available in a full range of sizes from xxs to xxl. I’ll definitely be styling spring outfits with this or other trenches.
Verdict: Undecided. I need to see if I actually need a new one in this color.
Collared Belted Shirtdress // This 100% polyester dress feels like pure silk. It is so soft and luxurious. It features a split neck with a collar. The belt can be removed and I might experiment with other belts if I keep it. I think this is a great dress for work or church. I love green and this one is beautiful. I’m wearing a medium, and I’d say it runs true to size or you might could size down. I didn’t bother putting on a slip for this try-on session, but I would definitely wear one.
Verdict: Undecided.
crocodile print tote bag // I thought this crocodile print tote bag would make a nice light neutral accessory for spring and summer. It’s quite basic, but didn’t disappoint. It does stand up on its own when set down and has an interior zip pocket. It can be carried or worn on the shoulder.
Verdict: Keeping.
Girlfriend Cardigan // I actually showed this sweater previously in this post, but I thought I’d style it again with this cute graphic tee and jeans. It runs true to size. Talbots is offering 25% off your full price purchase right now. And Classic Awards members will earn 3x points.
Verdict: Keeping.
button fly modern ankle jeans // I was a little surprised to see Talbots introduce these button fly jeans, so I had to give them a whirl. I found them to fit a little snug, but that may just be me. I’d say they probably run similar to their other modern ankle jeans. I like those jeans and have a pair, but they do fit me a little snugger than my other Talbots jeans. Anyhow these are great jeans if you want to go straight but prefer a very trim fit.
Verdict: returned just because I have other similar jeans.
graphic tee // I picked up this cute map of Italy graphic tee from J.Crew Factory. It fits true to size. And right now you can get this or other graphic tees 50% off with code YESPLEASE.
Verdict: Keeping.
Ombre Dip shaker stitch sweater // I like to wear 100% cotton sweaters in the spring since the temperatures remain quite cool here. Plus I thought this Ombre Dip shaker stitch sweater would be a nice one for my Florida trip. It fits true to size and is available in one other color. It can be worn alone or with a tee or tank underneath. 25% off today.
Verdict: Keeping.
packable straw hat // I purchased this packable straw hat to take with me to Florida, but I’ll be wearing it otherwise as well. It’s a great fit and adjustable. The packable straw hat also comes in a light ivory shade. Great price.
Verdict: Keeping.
Stretch Cargo Jogger // I’m always curious about the fabric used for athleisurewear, so I tend to order them to check them out for my readers. I’m not sure I need another pair of this sort of pants, but they are good ones. These Stretch Cargo Joggers are made from a lightweight, fairly thin polyester and spandex blend. So in my estimation they’re perfect for spring and summer. I’d wear them to travel in or just for a day around the house. They’re also great for a walk around the neighborhood or a day at the soccer field. They fit true to size.
Verdict: May return simply because I have so many similar pants. But they’re definitely worth keeping.
Frame Le High Raw Hem Straight Leg Jeans // I think the only other thing I haven’t shown somewhere before would be these Frame Le High Raw Hem Straight Leg Jeans. I just got them in this week and I love them. Yes, most of the denim I’ve shown today is pricey premium denim. But I’ve decided that if I’m actually going to wear my jeans frequently (and I am) then I want jeans that feel and look good. At the cost per wear, they are worth the investment to me. And fortunately these Frame Le High Raw Hem Straight Leg Jeans are currently 40% off. They have a 10 1/2″ rise, which I love. I like a 10 1/2″ to 10 3/4″ rise for me. And I love the ankle length (27″ inseam) as well as the wash on these black jeans.
Verdict: Keeping. It’s been quite a while since I’ve found a pair of black jeans I like as much as these.
Whew! I think that’s everything. Let me know if you have questions or if I left out some vital information. If you’re still with me, thanks so much for dropping in today. Have a great weekend!

What does real love look like? New love looks beautiful and fresh and whimsical. But true love is that which has aged well with time. It sticks around through thick and thin. It bears up, endures. And it keeps on hoping and believing even when common sense says to give up and move on.
True love is more of a choice than a feeling. It’s a decision, not a fluttery emotion or overwhelming drive. Today if you notice the feelings waning, determine to press in and hold on. Look for the best, remember why you said “I do,” recall the commitment you made and take joy in what you know to be true. I’m not just talking about your marriage, by the way. Loving a child, sibling, parent or friend can be hard, too. But true love prevails.
{Love} does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. ~ 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Ok Kay. I know you are probably tired of me going on about your hairstyle. (I absolutely love it). What I noticed today was the coloring. I know you are going natural and it makes your face glow. I would go natural if I thought my hair would like half as good as yours. One question. Have you noticed a change in the texture with your gray?
Have a great weekend. BTW, I have the ombre sweater in my cart. It reminds me of the ocean!
Hi Peggy. Thank you. No noticeable change in texture yet.
I have a question about the Talbots travel pants that are on this week’s bestseller list. The description says “hits at waist” but in the photo they definitely hit below the model’s waist. It’s frustrating when the written description and the photo contradict each other. Hoping you can clarify. Thanks Kay!
Yeah, I really think they hit slightly lower on the waist. But they are still comfortable on the waist, not like low rise.
Only you can decide if you are keeping the green dress but green is a great color on you!!! I have been looking at that Talbots green sweater online. Love it! I just don’t need another sweater! Enjoy! Hope Florida warms up before you go so you won’t need all those sweaters and jeans. We are going to be down there in a few weeks too so keeping my fingers crossed .
Thanks for sharing some spring items with us! I really like the Loft graphic tee and cardigan sweater together! I know that you are looking forward to your annual FL trip, so that you can spend time with your parents. I’m guessing that is what you will be doing. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Jeans I love whether blue, black or grey are worth the investment. Heavy fleece lined I buy for Winter that may be worn a few times are not. Put your money where your wear is.
BFMD is a blessing today as every day. Love your neighbor is different than the love you have for your family but bottom line is caring. It’s all good.
Really like the graphic tee and light blue top. Not sure about the others, as do not need another sweater.
Liked the BFMD. Love is what it is all about. Either the love of a loved one or the Love of Jesus, all good.
Like your hair too. It has looked so nice lately. Not that it ever looked bad. Nice haircut.
Thanks Sherry.
Oh that blue ombré sweater with white jeans – perfect for my cancun trip next month! Casual alfresco dining ! In my cart !
PS – loving your hair !
Thank you Susie.
What size do you have in the grey Frame jeans please?
I’m wearing a 30.
Thanks Kay! That is helpful.
Can you share details about the music on your You Tube channel? It’s quite unique.
Kay, If this is all that’s out for Spring I’m very happy to just wear what’s in my closet. I own less for Spring than any other season and was looking forward to really shopping for Spring items!!! I’ll keep watching what you show us!! Because I’m disabled I do most of my shopping on-line. I do shop in person for shoes, handbags and belts. Actually, all my leather goods!! Plus, jewelry!! Have a very blessed day!!
Well no this isn’t all that’s coming for spring by any means. It’s quite early yet. I’ll be sharing much more in March and later this month.
Loved this preview! I watched the video with you wearing the red Chico’s top and loved it so much I made one like it in the green color of the dress you showed. Beautiful picks and many so versatile. You are a blessing! Thanks for the inspiration. I am also enjoying the encouraging scriptures in your IG stories. Have a blessed day!
Kay: Great post! it’s a breath of fresh air to see all those Spring clothes. Your hair looks fabulous in every picture. That pair of Le Frame jeans looks amazing on you! Definitely worth the price as the fit on you is outstanding. Get another pair in a different color! Have a great time in Florida.
