Happy Monday! We had such a lovely weekend exploring part of our neighboring state. Friday afternoon James and I left Cincinnati for a church couples’ retreat at a rural camp in Indiana. It was rainy and the temperatures were going down. But I had just the rain wear to take on the overnight trip, so I wasn’t worried at all.

Saturday morning the sun rose in a clear blue sky, but I was glad I had my Sperry Saltwater waterproof rain boots since the ground was muddy in places. Plus the microfleece lining kept my feet so warm. I love that these rain boots feature an inner side zipper to help get them on and off. I will tell you that the boots take a little wiggling to get on, but they feel great once they are on. And they’re comparably easy to remove.
Since I normally wear a 9.5, I followed the sizing guidelines and sized down one half size to the 9. And they fit perfectly. The boots are available in other color combinations here.
But I think the real star of this fun rain wear outfit is the eggshell blue rain jacket. This coated cotton jacket is just the right weight to keep you warm without feeling stuffy. The lined jacket also features a hood. And I appreciate that it has both a zipper and buttons.
I’m wearing a small in the jacket with plenty of room to wear it over this pullover sweater or a thicker one. The coat is 100% cotton with a water resistant finish.
I’m wearing my stretch corduroy jeggings in harvest wheat. These ankle length pants are made of a cotton, polyester and Spandex blend for the perfect degree of stretch. And they don’t bag or gape with extended wear.
I don’t mind telling you that I selected this multicolor striped pullover sweater because the bright blue stripe perfectly matches the eggshell blue in the coat. But this pretty sweater holds its own, too. I can also wear it under my woodland berry fleece lined quilted vest. I’m wearing a small.
Because we were on a retreat at a camp in the woods, I didn’t bother to wear much jewelry. I just had on my classic gold hoops, just enough to add some shine.
We had such fun getting away with eight other couples in our church. I feel like I’m really starting to get to know so many of the people in our church as we share meals together, laugh around campfires and tell our stories. The weather was beautiful for our overnight trip. And I felt pretty and appropriately dressed for the chilly weather and the rustic retreat center.

Obviously, these are the first rainboots and raincoat I’ve owned in years, having just moved here from Arizona. But I’m pleased to report that these fun, comfortable boots and pretty blue jacket passed their first test beautifully!

Blessed for My Day
It still boggles my mind some days to think that God has plans for me. But He does. I know from reading the Bible that He has an overarching plan to redeem people to Himself through Jesus Christ so that we can live eternally with Him, at peace with Him. And I have a part in that plan. That’s mind blowing.
What is my part in that plan? I believe my role in that “big plan” is to share with others around me each and every day a testimony of how God is working in my life. As I share how God is answering prayers, changing my heart, healing my emotional wounds, giving me insight, providing for my needs and directing my path, I help others see that God loves people and has a plan for their lives, too. Let’s live today aware that we are part of something much bigger than ourselves.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. ~ Jeremiah 29:11
So glad you enjoyed your retreat! Your outfit combo looks so nice with your coloring. Love those boots! And as always, Blessed for my Day is thought provoking. I love Monday’s, as I feel I can start anew & work on improving my walk with The Lord. Your message helps me along the way!
Hi Gina. I’m so glad the words were encouraging to you. Yes, I love the fresh start of a Monday, too! Hope you’re having a good one!
Kay, the outfit you wore for the overnight retreat in the woods was perfect! You look so pretty in it and it’s great for the setting. Many many years ago I had some Lands End pull on chords that I always enjoyed wearing. I need to check my closet and see what color I could get the most wears out of, and order a pair from Talbots. Have a blessed day!
Hi Ginger. Yes, I’m really enjoying these. I almost bought this color last year and didn’t. Then I regretted it rest of the season! So I rectified that this year! And I’m finding them to be very versatile. But I’m sure I’ll continue to get a lot of wear out of the black ones I bought last year.
Just wondering……..did u have to be back at your church on Sunday morning?
Hi Judy. Yes, the rest of the group stayed overnight Saturday, too. But we came on home Saturday afternoon and got in about 9:30 that evening. It made for a pretty tiring weekend. But it was still good. That’s the ministry life! Ha!
