Happy Monday, sweet gals! It’s finally heating up here in Cincinnati, and I’m enjoying the warmth. It feels more like spring. That has me excited about the style series I have planned for this week. I’ll be showing you four different ways that I’m styling these terrific lightweight, sage green, slim utility pants. But you can apply these styles to other pants that may already be in your closet, too.

Sage Green Slim Utility Pants (wearing size regular 1 (8-M) available in other colors) // black v-neck tee (wearing small) // black flats (TTS) use code MYDAY for 10% off // black reversible belt (50% off) // Levi’s denim jacket // Parker chain necklace // compass pendant necklace // similar earrings // sunglasses // similar cuff bracelet

I chose to style these Sage Green Slim Utility Pants four ways because they have become such a workhorse in my wardrobe. I love the tapered silhouette, the soft “lived-in” fabric and the distinctly casual vibe of these Slim Utility Pants. I also have them in camel and just ordered them in opal. Yeah, I kinda like these pants. They fit true to size; I’m wearing a Chico’s 1 or regular 8.

Like I said, you’ll be seeing these Sage Green Slim Utility Pants four ways this week. And I hope you’ll check back in for the other three styles because they’re all quite unique. But today I’ve styled the Sage Green Slim Utility Pants with black. Oh, I love me some black!

By the way, these Slim Utility Pants are currently 30% off.

I find that sage or soft army green is such a versatile color to have in my closet because it pairs with so many colors I love to wear. And I especially like how it plays well with black. I simply topped the pants with my favorite black v-neck tee for a casual but pulled together look. My black v-neck tee is 30% off today.

black v-neck t-shirt

By the way, strange thing about this black v-neck tee. I have this tee in a size small in both the black and white, but when I ordered the grey recently it felt too small. So I’m returning it for a medium probably. But I’ve worn this black v-neck tee for over a year, washed it many times and it still fits and looks beautifully polished. At any rate, the sizing may have changed or the grey may just run a little smaller.

To complete my sage green and black combo, I added a black reversible belt (50% off today) and my black Comfi Flats.

Empress Cozi Flats

Empress shoes, a small online only company founded by two brothers, reached out to me recently and gifted me these black flats. Honestly, I had low expectations. But as it turns out I reach for these comfortable flats more than any of my other shoes right now. They’re that comfortable. These comfi flats also come in white and beige and they feature well cushioned soles and soft pliable leather that conforms to your foot. And get this. You can try them – and WEAR THEM – and still return them within 30 days if you’re not happy with them. Use code MYDAY for 10% off your first purchase with Empress Shoes.

denim jacket

I decided to go with silver jewelry for this look, so I reached for my Parker chain necklace and compass pendant necklace. They create such a nice layered duo. My earrings are no longer available, but these would make a nice substitute. My bracelet is also discontinued, but this cuff is similar.

denim jacket

Finally, I topped the look off with my no-fail go-to, my classic Levi’s denim jacket. I think it works perfectly with this otherwise black and green outfit, lightening it up a bit.

Blessed for My Day

Today let’s practice a little mind control. No, we can’t control other people’s minds. But we can, with practice, control our own thinking. And when we are diligent about filtering our thoughts, we have more success monitoring our words and deliberately choosing our actions. Self-control very much begins in the mind.

At the very least, let’s choose to only dwell on that which is true. If negative or worrisome thoughts capture your attention today, choose to filter them through that baseline criteria. “Is this completely true? What does God say is true about it?” Beware: Don’t settle for what your feelings tell you is true. Truth is what God says about your situation. Start there.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. ~ Philippians 4:8

I’ve linked today’s post to the Style on the Daily weekly style link-up. Be sure to check out some other great styles from the bloggers who gather there each week!

  1. Kay, thank you for reminding me again, that I need to work at creating multiple outfits from pieces that are already in my closet. I have a tendency to repeat, instead of experimenting. Your look is very nice. I can’t wait to see the other outfits you put together with those pants.

  2. I’m loving these multiple ways to wear a garment posts, it’s so helpful. When you’re finished with this series, could you put all the outfits on a grid in one photo so I can post it on my Pintrest board? It’s very helpful to have all the options and see their versatility at a glance. I’m still excited for my paperbag jeans to arrive! I’m anxious to try out that style.

  3. I’m so thankful that you show options at stores that carry petite. I am 5’1 and it is hard to find correct sizing. Thanks for all the encouraging words to us ladies about working on our inner beauty as well as our outer beauty.

  4. I love these posts. This is why I have to keep some black because sometimes it’s just what you need. The jacket is just right and I would not have thought to add it to these two pieces.

  5. Hi Kay,
I like the pants a lot! The link goes to them in petites. Is that what your’s are? Also they come in a regular length (29″). I messaged Chico’s and they got back to me that the petite length is 25″. Thank you!

    1. Hi Barb. No that’s just what opens on the page, but you can also select regular and even y’all on the page. Mine are regular.

      1. Thank you! I see that now–I’m not as familiar with their website. I really appreciate how you feature an outfit different ways. I also watched your Youtube video on “Looking chic in the Heat”. I enjoyed it and felt as if I had actually met you! 🙂 It is obvious that you put your heart into your blog…fashion, beauty, & spiritual! Thank you!

        1. Ahh, thanks Barb. I’m glad you enjoyed the video and the blog posts. Speaking of looking chic in the heat, these pants are very lightweight and comfy. I wore them in another color in that video, where I paired them with this top in black: https://shopstyle.it/l/bhBIw

  6. I especially enjoy the posts where you show us multiple ways to wear key pieces. It helps me to see the potential and how to add/subtract to achieve a pulled together look. Kay, is there any color or style that you can’t wear? Everything looks great on you.
Thanks for the short lesson about thoughts. Thoughts lead to actions. Very powerful – – hopefully positive instead of negative.
Bless you and your family always,
    Suzanne

    1. Hahaha! Yeah, you’ll hardly see me in yellow. 😬 I’m glad you enjoyed the post and the blessing. Thanks for sharing! 😊
