So Chic with Simple Separates

Hello, and welcome to Dressed for My Day. Now that it’s Thursday and I’m showing yet another elevated fall outfit, I realize I may as well have labeled this week as “back to work wardrobe week.” It’s really quite an accident that I’ve shared a variety of work appropriate outfits, mostly with black pants this week. But hey, let’s go with it! Today I’m sharing yet more simple separates that combine to look oh so chic.

While this is not a sponsored post, today’s outfit was mostly gifted to me by Chico’s for an upcoming Instagram campaign. I have to admit, sometimes when I’m invited by brands to select a few things from their current new arrivals, I come up short, struggling to find much I want to order. But this time I had the gall to ask for more than Chico’s had originally offered for the collaboration because I was so anxious to show this collection to you. There are some oh so chic separates among their new arrivals.

I would probably prefer to wear these ponte knit pants with heels, but I chose to wear my Sarah Flint Sacchetto ballet flats because I know so many of my readers choose flats. These full length, button and zipper fly pants are sooo comfortable.

I topped the pants with Chico’s no-iron stretch shirt in optic white. It also comes in spiced red (the same color as my sweater-sleeve jacket) and ambered olive. Both of those colors are really trending this year. But this optic white stretch shirt definitely has enough substance to it that you don’t have to worry about feeling that it’s too sheer. And I love the stretch in this classic shirt. And the darts down the front keep this shirt slightly tailored and feminine.

Of course, you certainly could tuck in this no-iron stretch shirt and add a belt. But I decided to let it hang out on this day. I think the length works nicely with the spiced red sweater-sleeve jacket.

The spiced red sweater-sleeve jacket is a pleasant middle weight jacket that provides a little warmth, a splash of color and a touch of style to this otherwise very basic outfit. It fits true to size; I’m wearing a size 1 or 8/10 misses. The body of the spiced red sweater-sleeve jacket is a classic woven fabric while the sleeves are like a sweater. It has an open front and front slash pockets with functional gold zippers.

I felt like this red, black and white combo was just begging for a touch of leopard print. So I chose to carry my reversible faux leather tote. Of course you could also add a splash of animal print with a belt, shoes or scarf. This faux leather tote is a great price and available in several other color combinations, too.

I finished this so chic outfit of simple separates with jewelry also from Chico’s. I’m wearing the goldtone and freshwater pearl earrings and a couple of fun bracelets, which, unfortunately, are no longer available. But I really like this goldtone magnetic bracelet that features coins and an assortment of shapes.

This is the kind of outfit that proves that looking chic and pulled together doesn’t require a lot of fuss. In fact, the key is in the simplicity. I’d wear this outfit to church, a club meeting, Bible study or work, if I worked outside my home office.

“Let us love one another.” That was John’s invitation to the church. Even then, in the first century of church life, people struggled with showing love for one another. Otherwise I don’t believe John would have spent almost an entire letter sharing with them the significance and importance of following Jesus’ example of love.

How do we love our church family? We forgive. We show grace, give patience, encourage and serve. We also weep with those who weep and rejoice with those who celebrate. Loving other within our church family is not always easy. But it’s an invitation to be more like Christ and to help build His kingdom. How could you love someone in your church today?
