I love wearing dresses. I really do. But during the winter I’m prone to reach for slacks over and over for dressier occasions unless I have the right dress in my closet for the cooler temperatures. That’s why I’m so excited to share with you this simple but oh so pretty midi length sweater dress. It’s the perfect sweater dress for Christmas and beyond.
I don’t mind telling you that I found this pine green sweater dress when I went looking for something to wear with these creamy suede knee high boots. I’d picked up the boots in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and pretty much forgotten about them since I hadn’t taken them out of the box. But when I rediscovered them I knew I wanted to wear more than jeans with them. I wanted a warm and flattering dress to pair with them.
So let’s begin with these yummy boots!
These knee high boots have lots of wiggle room in the shaft, allowing you to push them down a little for a slouchy fit if you wish. I don’t have mine pushed down as much as they’ll go, for instance. I love the color and of course I’ve sprayed them for protection from the elements. The website suggested sizing up a half size in these and that worked for me.
Unfortunately my boots are almost sold out, but I’ve linked to other options in the shopping widget below. And I found these microsuede boots at Target for a more economical choice.
But this rich knit dress doesn’t require boots at all. It would look perfectly lovely with suede pumps or even leopard print flats, as shown on the website page.
But I did choose a midi length dress because I wanted one that covered the top of the boots. I wanted to create a very warm and luxurious look, head to toe. That’s why the tie neck and voluptuous sleeves also attracted my attention.
I’m definitely wearing shapewear. The sweater dress is form fitting, but not tight or clingy. The waistline is defined with extra-fine ribbing and gores down the sides of the skirt add a bit of a flare. I’m wearing my usual medium and it has an easy fit. So I’d say the dress runs true to size.
I appreciate the way sweater dresses move with you. And this one is comfortable, easy and yet beautifully stylish. The tie neck and volume in the sleeves give a bit of a retro vibe.
To create a chic, elegant look I kept my jewelry to a minimum. I simply wore my gold hoops (similar) and these sparkly studs plus a gold bangle. My taupe satchel (similar) adds a little structure to this soft silhouette but keeps the look feminine, too.
This soft, feminine sweater dress is also available in a rich rosy pink. In fact, it’s almost sold out in the green, but is more fully stocked in the beautiful pink color. And I’ve linked to several other pretty sweater dresses in the widget below, too.
I see myself wearing this rich sweater dress for Christmas but beyond as well. And really any color of sweater dress is a smart and luxurious looking choice for holiday events. Plus, with some classic style elements a sweater dress can serve you well for years.

Do you ever wake up feeling anxious and unsettled? That’s how I woke up this morning. I’ve lived enough years to know not to give in completely to those feelings. I know they’re not reliable, but they’re still real.
So I got up before the roosters did and finished up this post. Unfinished work seems to be a common theme in my anxieties. But there’s always more work to be done, so a completed checklist is not necessarily the answer. Instead, I know that I need to spend time in God’s presence, allowing Him to settle my worries and fill me with His peace. I pray that you also find peace and strength in Him today.
Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,
for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go,
for to you I entrust my life. ~ Psalm 143:8

The color and fit of this dress is beautiful on you!
Thank you. It feels great, too. So soft and just skims the body. ?
I love that dress and the boots and purse look so sharp with the pine green!
They definitely are all keepers and you look so natural and put together.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Well thanks so much, Aimee. That means a lot. ?
I always wear shapewear with a dress as well. Do your Spanx roll up at the legs? I have 2 brands of shapewear but both roll up at the leg opening which is very annoying not to mention embarrassing!
No, my Spanx don’t roll up but I have experienced that with other brands too.
