Happy Monday! And welcome to Dressed for My Day. I think it’s fair to say that my main focus here is style, but I also like to offer some insight and personal experience in the areas of beauty, fitness and inner beauty. That said, when I tiptoe into the realm of beauty I always feel even more nervous about tripping up than I do when I talk fashion. I’m no expert here, ladies. But I am excited to share with you today my findings as I recently tried out a new-to-me drugstore brand skincare and makeup line, L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect.

Reviewing L'Oreal Paris Age Perfect Skin Care & foundation

While I continue to enjoy my Mary Kay products and a few other favorites, such as the Lancome Definicils Mascara and Cils Mascara primer, I also enjoy trying out new makeup products at various price points to share with the Dressed for My Day community. Plus, I love being aware of brands that I can easily access at a drugstore or super store when I need something quick, say on vacation.

I decided to try the L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect collection because so many of my email subscribers recommended it or asked for a review. Plus this familiar brand has developed the Age Perfect makeup and skin care lines specifically for more mature skin.

L'Oreal Paris Age Perfect Skin Care

The Age Perfect skin care line for mature skin includes gentle cleansers, lightweight oils and serums, and anti-aging creams and lotions to restore and revive skin. Of course I couldn’t try everything, but I did try enough to know that these are indeed high quality products that feel very nourishing and restorative. I also appreciate that some products, such as the Rosy Tone Face Moisturizer are available in a fragrance free iteration and you can buy products with sunscreen added or without.

Today I’m simply providing a brief overview of the skin care and foundational products I tried and sharing my honest assessment of each. Tomorrow I’ll share how I did my eye makeup as well as my blush and lip color application, and a few tips for creating a flawless finish.

L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Skin Care & Foundation Products

Again, these are not all the products in the L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect line, just the ones I purchased. Oh, and this is not a sponsored post, by the way. I purchased all of these on my own dime to try out for you!

L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Hydra Nutrition Honey Night Balm // I’ve used this ultra rich cream for five nights now. It goes on like a thick, dense balm. It has the consistency of a lip balm, so you actually have to dig into it a little to get some on your fingertips. I’ve been wearing it alone, after washing my face for the evening. But I think it might work best worn over this Age Perfect Night Cream, which I imagine has a creamier consistency or the Rosy Tone Cooling Night Moisturizer. It looks like the purpose of the Hydra Nutrition Honey Night Balm is to hold in the moisture you’ve applied through the other night creams as you sleep. But it does work its way into your skin, so I didn’t wake up with it feeling greasy or heavy. Do I recommend it? Yes, as a second layer night balm for very dry skin.

L'Oreal Paris Age Perfect Skin Care

L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Day Cream SPF 15 // At first I couldn’t tell if this cream was intended to be a moisturizer or just a sunscreen. I didn’t find it to be especially rich. If you have less dry skin, however, it might work well for you. But I prefer something with a lot of moisture and richness. Do I recommend it? Only if you have oily or combination skin.

Moisturizer
L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Cell Renewal* Rosy Tone Moisturizer

L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Cell Renewal* Rosy Tone Moisturizer // The name of this moisturize scared me away at first, and that’s why I had purchased the Day Cream SPF 15. I was afraid it was going to turn me pink. Ha! But when the other Day Cream left me underwhelmed I returned to get this Cell Renewal* Rosy Tone Moisturizer, and I’m glad I did. It doesn’t turn you pink, but it does elicit just a bit of a healthy glow. And it goes on so silky smooth and feels quite luxurious. I got the one with the fragrance, and I actually like the light, rosy scent. But it’s also available in a fragrance free formula. Do I recommend it? Heartily!

Eye Cream
L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Rosy Tone Anti-Aging Eye Brightener

L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Rosy Tone Anti-Aging Eye Brightener // Much like the Rosy Tone Moisturizer, this eye cream goes on silky smooth and easily. And it did keep my eye makeup looking fresh all day. Also my eye makeup does not crease or fade with wear. Whether that’s due to this Rosy Tone Anti-Aging Eye Brightener or not, I really don’t know. But it certainly didn’t hurt. And I did feel like the silky cream helped make eye makeup application easy. Do I recommend it? Yes!

Primer
L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Blurring Face Primer Infused with Caring Serum

L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Blurring Face Primer Infused with Caring Serum // I love using a primer before applying my foundation. In fact, this is a step I never skip. Normally, with other primers I’ve used, I apply the primer and then let it set a bit before applying my foundation. However, with this one I find that it worked best when applied immediately after the Cell Renewal* Rosy Tone Moisturizer and just before the Radiant Serum Foundation with SPF 50 (more on that in a bit). When I applied the three formulations one right after the other like that, I loved the results. My makeup went on more smoothly, applied evenly and held up to time and wear through the day. Do I recommend it? Absolutely!

L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Creamy Powder Foundation with Minerals // I tried the Creamy Powder Foundation in shade #305 Cream Beige. I did try it as a foundation, but I didn’t like that at all. I felt like it “skipped” on my skin in application and left me looking somewhat mottled. I tried applying it with the sponge applicator it comes with as well as a foundation brush. Neither produced good results.

Powder Foundation
I only liked the L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Creamy Powder Foundation with Minerals used as a setting powder, not as a foundation.

However, I also used the Creamy Powder Foundation as a setting powder after applying the other foundation and makeup. And I did like those results. I patted on just enough to set my concealer and blend in my blush a bit. And I felt like it produced a silky smooth finish. Do I recommend it? Not as a foundation, but as a setting powder only.

L'Oreal Paris Age Perfect Radiant Concealer with Hydrating Serum
L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Radiant Concealer with Hydrating Serum

L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Radiant Concealer with Hydrating Serum // I applied this creamy concealer using the sponge tip applicator under my eyes and on any places where I have a little discoloration. Then I blended and set it with a small BeautyBlender.

BeautyBlender mini to set concealor
Setting the L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Radiant Concealer with Hydrating Serum using a small BeautyBlender.

I used #200 ivory Radiant Concealer, but I’m not sure that’s the best color for me. The L’Oreal website suggests choosing a color that is lighter but warmer than your skin tone, so it will counteract any darkness you have here. Because this formulation contains a hydrating serum and glycerin it’s not supposed to settle into fine lines. Indeed, I found it to hold up as well as any concealer I’ve ever used, and better than many. It’s very easy to apply, a rich, creamy formula. Do I recommend it? Yep!

L'Oreal Paris Age Perfect Radiant Serum Foundation with SPF 50
L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Radiant Serum Foundation with SPF 50

L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Radiant Serum Foundation with SPF 50 // I tried three colors before settling on the #25 Cream Beige in this creamy foundation. Honestly, at this price I didn’t mind trying out three different formulas, and I can perhaps use one of those others as my skin tone changes a bit during summer. Anyhow, I really, really like the lightweight but dense consistency of this serum foundation. According to L’Oreal, this foundation is formulated with Vitamin B3 and Hydrating Serum, so it provides coverage while also being suitable for sensitive skin.

L'Oreal Paris Age Perfect Radiant Serum Foundation with SPF 50
Using the original BeautyBlender to blend and set the L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Radiant Serum Foundation with SPF 50

I applied the Radiant Serum Foundation with my fingers (as I normally do most days) and then blended it in with my BeautyBlender (you just bounce the dampened and towel-dried BeautyBlender over your face, targeting lines and nooks and crannies). I found the Radiant Serum Foundation to be very responsive to the BeautyBlender. It provides medium coverage while creating a natural glow and fresh, dewy complexion. Honestly lasting power is not very easy to gauge these days as we have to put face masks off and on throughout the day. Then again, we took photos on this day while I took my mask off and on repeatedly and I think it held up pretty well. Do I recommend it? Heartily!

Finished look with L'Oreal Paris Age Perfect Skin Care and Makeup

Don’t hate me, but I’m going to stop here for today. I don’t want this post to get so long that I lose you. I’ll finish up with the more “colorful” components tomorrow. Plus, I’ll provide a step-by-step guide for how I applied my eye shadow and lip color.

Over all I really liked these products. So I’m going to go ahead and include everything in the shopping widget below. You won’t go wrong with any of these products in my estimation, as long as you take into consideration the notes I offered above. Let me know if you have any questions about the products I’ve mentioned so far. I’ll stick close and try to offer responses quickly today.

Shop the Post:

You can shop the look through the links in the copy above or through the shopping widget below. Sale prices are not always reflected in the widget, so click through to get pricing info. Remember, if you purchase anything through these links I potentially earn a commission, but at no cost to you. Thank you for shopping through Dressed for My Day. I am grateful!

By the way, I linked mostly to Walmart today, with a few links to Walgreens because some items weren’t available at Walmart. But you can also shop the products at these retailers:

Shopping Tip: While you may be able to get these products at your local store, I do suggest shopping online and using the curbside pickup option that all of these stores offer right now. To me it is so much easier to shop online for beauty products rather than squatting down in a store aisle with a mask on and bumping into other shoppers. I ordered my products through Walgreens and my order was ready in less than 30 minutes.

Blessed for My Day

Heaven is a real place. I don’t say this because some have claimed to have visited it. Nor do I rely on operating table visions or tales from the spirit world, although I do not necessarily discredit those either. I know that heaven is a real place because Jesus said He was going there to prepare a place for His followers. And He also assured them (and us) that if He went to prepare a place for His followers, He would also return to take them there. Heaven is where God abides and where He plans to bring us into His company.

I also believe that heaven is a glorious place. It is a place void of pain and suffering and tears, but full of joy and peace and love. Are you looking forward to heaven? I am. And I want you to be there, too. One more thing I know for certain about heaven: there is only one way to get there. And that is through Jesus Christ. No one can get there on their own. So ask Jesus today, if you’ve not already done so, to take you there by the blood of the cross, where He died for you. I hope to see you there! Meanwhile, let’s live today as those who have a reservation in heaven…a place that is beyond our comprehension, but not out of reach.

In My Father’s house are many rooms; if that were not so, I would have told you, because I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I am coming again and will take you to Myself, so that where I am, there you also will be. And you know the way where I am going.” Thomas *said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going; how do we know the way?” Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me. ~ John 14:2-6

  1. You are beautiful!
I can’t wait to read tomorrow’s post. I love your top/t-shirt and your earrings.
Like someone else commented I got maybe 15 pop up ads for Mc Donald’s…. I don’t even eat there. Oh well, such is life.

    1. Thanks so much, Patricia. I’m glad you enjoyed the post. There are going to be ads. That is one of my revenue streams, and I need that to help pay for the website and other services. But the other reader is having ads cover up my content. Are you experiencing that? If so could you please email me a screenshot? Thanks! 😊

  2. You looked very nice with your new makeup. I have only tried the Loreal lipstick and eyeshadows and have liked the
product and colors I have chosen. I have not tried the cleansers, moisturizers, etc as I use another product line for awahil now and I am happy with it.
Also enjoyed the BFMD. Your doctrine sounds so much like my church and we are so in tune. If your do not mind, what
is the name of your husbands church> I would like to listen to his sermon. Bless you.

  3. Thank you so much for your review of these skin care products. They look lovely on you…but you are lovely anyway. I love the tee you’re wearing….such a nice color on you.

  4. Sorry about all the typos. Not awake yet this morning. lol
I have continual pop ups also. I just thought it was my computer,
as it is an older one. Not sure. Not so computer literate.

    1. Ho Sherry. There are going to be pop up ads. But are they blocking the content? If they’re where they are supposed to be you should still be able to read the post and see my photos. I need the ads to pay for the website. But if they’re in the way of reading the content I need you to send me a screen shot so I can see what the problem is. Thanks.

  5. Thank you for your review! I really like the way you did your make up. Would you share the products and how you do your eyebrows? The eyebrow products I’ve looked at are always darker than what you are using. But I’ve been searching for a color just like the one you are using. Thank you so much for letting me know. Have a blessed day 🌸

  6. You look really radiant and your skin has a healthy glow. But……that is a lot of creams and makeup to put on. I would have to have a cheat sheet on the order of the products..

    1. I agree a “cheat sheet” of the order would be helpful. My dermatologist has provided me with an order like this for my creams/medications and it is helpful when you start to have so many things to need as we age. 😀

  7. Great timing! This came up as I was watching another review on this line. I am not great at applying makeup, have a hodgepodge of various products and 54 year old skin. I am thinking I need these basics. How do you match your skin colour in a drugstore, just hold it up and guess as best you can? Thank you for sharing your hard work and knowledge with us! 🇨🇦

    1. Yeah, I found that the online photos actually are better because most of them show the product on the skin. Whereas when you’re in the store all you see is the container and the color on there is often not accurate. But like I said, at these prices I didn’t much mind buying two in order to find the best match.

  8. I liked this post and that it was different than fashion Kay……it’s nice to have something else and we women love makeup! I do like using L’Oréal face wash, creams and their foundation. It just works for me!

    Blessings,

  9. Great post today! You make wearing makeup easy and beautiful! Can’t wait to see tomorrow’s video.
BFMD is such a blessing. Thank you for it.
    Have a wonderful day!
    Suzanne

    1. Thanks Suzanne. It won’t be a video tomorrow, unfortunately. Just photos. When we move into a new house and can set up a studio, I’ll definitely do a makeup tutorial or two!

  10. I’m a little confused about the order of your make-up application. Did you apply the powder foundation first then you applied the serum foundation. Is that correct? If not please correct me.

    1. I tried the powder foundation as a foundation, but didn’t like it. That was several days ago when I was trying everything out. In these photos I just used the serum foundation as a foundation. Then later I used a little of the powder just as you would normally to set your makeup, patting it on over the makeup. Make sense? Or have I just muddied the waters. I wouldn’t have even mentioned the powder foundation as a foundation except a) that’s one of the ways they advertise using it and b) I wanted readers to know that I DID NOT like it used this way. It just didn’t work for me.

  11. Loved BFMD today. Sojourners only. One day Gods children will step from this life into eternity. We need to tell those who don’t know as you just did. Bless you for holding the banner high on this blog.
I don’t wear wear much of anything on my face these days but having a touch of pink sure couldn’t hurt. Think I’ll try that. I’m interested in eyebrows too. With silver hair, I’m always unsure what color pencil to choose. Taupe?

  12. I love your look!! Can I ask what color eyeshadow you use? I have the same blue eyes and need something to brighten them up! I’m a nurse and mask wearing for 13hrs a day I feel like I need a boost!!

  13. Thank you for this review. I’ve been curious about the Rosy Glow cream but was concerned it would be too “rosy” for me. I’m definitely going to try it now. You look lovely.

  14. I thought your makeup looked beautiful in the photo where you are holding the compact!! I don’t think you liked that product but it photographed well. Thanks for reviewing these products! I am a firm believer that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to look good, unless you want too. Great post!

    1. Yes the makeup all worked great. I just didn’t like the compact powder as a foundation. But that’s NOT how I used it in that photo. Just to clarify. 😉 Thank you.

  15. The L’Oreal rosy moisturizer is intriguing. Just when I was feeling satisfied with what I’ve been using. Adding a little bit of glow to my winter pale skin might be just what I need! I quit using expensive department store skin care products and cosmetics years ago. I just didn’t see they were doing much for me. I started using a few carefully chosen products easily bought over the counter. Amazingly the results were good. So thank you for these new suggestions. I have oily skin and very few wrinkles. I’ve always taken care of my skin and lightly exfoliate frequently. I’m looking forward to trying a few new items as my supplies need replenishing.

  16. First, great post! I’m warm toned and wonder if the Rosy Glow will be ROSY or if it works on warm toned skin. Next, a question about BeautyBlender. Do all sponges work the same or is this one “the one”?! Third, in anticipation of tomorrow’s ‘color post’ can you discuss how to properly blend eyeshadow without rubbing it all off (as I do?) I’m a complete blending novice. Thanks!

Last, I opted out of GumGum advertising here: https://gumgum.com/terms-and-policies/opt-out but it does indicate you have to opt out from each browser so if you use more than one (as I do) you’ll need to opt out from all browsers. This is what’s showing on my mobile and PC as popup ads that are most annoying.

    1. I don’t use Gum Gum ads, Nancy. So those are probably the result of something you downloaded on your device or your browser. That’s not my ads. I don’t think the rosy tone moisturizer has much to do with your complexion. I thought that too at first. But it really just gives you a slight healthy glow. Yes, I don’t recommend any other blending sponge. Others may, but they probably haven’t tried the BeautyBlender. It’s unlike any other sponge out there. I highly recommend it. And yes, I’ll be sharing about blending. It’s key! But definitely get to the bottom of that GumGum thing. That has nothing to do with my website. 🤷🏼‍♀️

      1. Hi Kay. Thanks about the Beauty blender.
The comment about gumgum ads wasn’t intended for you or your site! Rathe,r for a couple readers who mentioned popup ads. We each opt out or in as individuals, based on preferences and/or state we live in. I apologize if my earlier comment was not clear.

        1. Oh okay. Thanks for letting me know. A few readers have been having problems with my ads so that’s why I clarified. All’s good! 😊

  17. When I clicked on products I went to the home page of Walgreens and not to a specific product. I have the Walgreens app and I can type in the products you mentioned but then you wouldn’t be getting the credit, I think. Just wondering.
I bought the eye shadow palette, and concealer you recommend on Friday. But my location was out of blurring the lines product I wanted to try.
I too am not trusting myself to know what color to get for my skin tone on foundation. So I haven’t done that yet.
I too liked this post! I am no expert either and really appreciate your willingness to share pictures and input!! Thank you

  18. Great post, Kay! And to see you wearing a spring top was so refreshing! Thank you for the review of the L’Oreal products. I’m going gray, too, so I will be needing to start over with foundation and color cosmetics by summer. I’ll keep this in mind.

  19. Hi Kay,
Make up looks great! So the Vit C did not work out. I ordered another bottle in late November and cut off to return was yesterday. Go figure. So I’d like to send it to you. After I had a facial which I get every 6-8 weeks my face became on fire and lasted for days. Now some of my fall facials were canceled due to salons closed. This recent facial was my first one since mid October. No product change for face and I’ve had the same winter facials for years. So my esthetician and I decided it was the pure Vit C. It’s all fine. Send me your address and I will get it to you.

    1. Oh my. I’m so sorry about that. I’ve never had anything like that happen. But I don’t have sensitive skin at all. I hate for you to have to ship it to me though. Maybe there’s someone nearby who would like to try it?

  20. I’ll have to check these products out. I’m always looking for good face products but do not like to pay lots of money. 🤷‍♀️ I’m wondering how they would be for redness.

That top is a beautiful color on you.

Absolutely love the BFMD! And I love that you are not ashamed to share the gospel of Christ! ❤️🙏🏻

    1. Thanks Gina. The products are great but pretty basic. I didn’t notice if they had any toners to help with redness. But i do think at least the products I tested are very good values for the money.

  21. It’s an “Ads by Google” tall rectangular box hugging the lefthand side of the screen making it impossible to read your content except for an inch or so above it. It usually does not offer an “x” to close box until has nearly driven me to distraction. Once I click on the eventual “x” another new box appears and begins to cycle through a new set of ads.I’m using Safari on an older MacBook Air. Right now an ad box is covering the left side of this box as I type and all of the boxes where I am meant to add my name, auugghh!

    1. Hi Denise. I understand how frustrating that is. My ad company is working on it. The other readers who have had problems are also on Safari, but it still shouldn’t be happening. Please be patient. They are working on it.

  22. Recently I found you through YouTube and love your videos! Of course I have now subscribed to your videos and blog and I am enjoying them so much. Your coloring and mine seem to be very similar so the clothes that flatter you are usually my favorite colors as well. I use a lot of L’Oréal products but haven’t used all of these so I appreciate your thoughtful reviews. I have a suggestion if you don’t mind. On tomorrow’s blog could you please list each item you do recommend and the order you use them in . Maybe a list like 123 down the page. It would be so helpful if we wanted to duplicate your results. That way we wouldn’t have to read through the blog as we were applying everything.
I also have a suggestion for your videos. So many YouTubers ask for suggestions so I hope you don’t mind. Since our favorite and most flattering colors in our clothing are colors we also use in our home I would love a tour of your home and suggestions for decorating or little tips. Since your clothing is basically traditional with a touch of modern , as is mine, I’m guessing your house would be decorated similarly. Thank you so much for all the hard work you put into all you do. You read had been a blessing to me. And I pray you have a blessed day.

  23. Hi Kay sorry I am late in sending a reply, Thank You for trying and reviewing the L’Oreal Age Perfect I have been meaning to try some new product for my skin for some time now as my skin has become drier. I will definitely give these products a go. The shops/stores are still closed in the UK so will have a good look on line.

  24. I’ve found that, for my dry skin, it works best to mix the line blurring primer, then the foundation, with a bit of moisturizer before applying.
