Valentine’s Day Outfit Inspiration

Hello there! Welcome to Dressed for My Day. We’re on day four of a week full of outfits that help you Feel Warm + Look Stylish this Winter. But today’s simple and casual outfit is also a perfect choice for a Valentine’s Day outfit.

Today’s look is not as layered as the last three, but I am wearing my ribbed white tee again. Y’all! I just didn’t want to take it off! I was changing clothes on site and it was cold. This was actually the first set of pictures and the one outfit I actually meant to wear this long sleeve tee with. I love the look of a basic white tee under a v-neck sweater.

My pink cashmere sweater is almost sold out. Last I check all that was left in this shade was an x-large. However, this v-neck sweater and this v-neck pullover both come in similar shades of pink. And they’re pretty good prices, too.

I broke out my barely boot leg jeans for this look, too. These are Christopher & Banks jeans I got for this post on selecting your perfect jean fit. So far they’ve been my favorite boot cut jeans, but they do run a bit big. I’m wearing a 6 and they’re still a little roomy.

If you style them right, boot cut jeans really have the potential to create a great silhouette. I think the key is to make sure your shirt ends at the right place for your personal proportions. Also wearing shoes with a pointy toe helps keep that leg long, and that’s a plus. Finally, I’d generally choose shoes in either a dark color that further elongates the jean leg or a skin toned neutral.

I tend to keep my jewelry pared down and classic. I used to try to wear a lot of bold costume jewelry, but I just never felt comfortable in it. I’d see other women wearing colorful, chunky beads and they’d look stunning. But I couldn’t seem to feel like myself in those same pieces. So I’ve decided to do what feels right for my personal style.

But hey, if you’re that gal who looks pulled together and vibrant in colorful necklaces, statement earrings and big, layered bracelets, go for it. I’ll be admiring you!

So instead of big jewelry I tend to gravitate toward other kinds of accessories that pack a punch. That’s why adding my faux fur leopard print coat was a given. Here’s a similar coat at a good price and fully stocked.

On this day I chose to wear my taupe suede booties from last year. They’re a nice comfortable heel. These Vince Camutos are this year’s version of these booties. And they’re currently 33% off.

But these sock booties arrived at my house yesterday and I think I would probably swap them in here. I really purchased them to try with straight leg ankle jeans, as I mentioned in this post. I got the dark brown and I think they’re going to look great with this coat, but also with so many other things. They fit true to size. And I can’t wait to show them to you!

I think this outfit is a nice option for Valentine’s Day because it doesn’t scream Valentine’s. Ha! But hey, I’m all for hearts, too. In fact, I’ll be sharing a slightly less subtle Valentine’s option next week.

Blessed for My Day

Some days I get discouraged. You, too? I wake up with high ideals and a fresh slate and eager anticipation. But somewhere along the way something is said that hurts my feelings or something doesn’t go through that I had been hoping for or I simply give out of steam. And little by little my energy wanes and my optimism drains and I begin to second guess myself.

Do you ever feel that way? What’s a girl to do?

I think we find some of the answers in Philippians 3. Here Paul reminds us that we must stay focused on the end game. But that implies that first we have to know what the desired end is. Sweet gal, the goal is simply to follow Christ, to remain in Him, to walk with Him. You nor I have to do or produce or win or accomplish any great thing on our own. We simply need to press on, seeking to know Him and to make Him known.

Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 3:12-14
