Hello and welcome to Dressed for My Day on this YouTube Video Wednesday. I have a fun video for you today. I’m sharing lots of ways to wear a black blazer – from ultra casual to office ready.
I’ve long considered a black blazer to be a wardrobe essential. Whether you wear it frequently like I do, or you keep it in your closet just in case, this classic jacket is the perfect topper to grab in a pinch…or for perfect polish.
Enjoy today’s video and then check back in for pinnables, a shoppable widget and links to other blog posts in which I’ve shared ways to wear my favorite black blazers. If for some reason the video player doesn’t load below, you can watch the video here: https://youtu.be/T5cnTGP2geA.
My Favorite Black Blazers
In today’s video I’m wearing this 1901 Stretch Cotton Twill Blazer, the Veronica Beard Scuba Jacket and the Faux Leather Blazer from Chico’s. I find that all three of these blazers fit true to size. I’m wearing an 8 in all three.
The Veronica Beard Scuba Jacket is quite the investment piece. But for someone who wears a black blazer as frequently as I do and who enjoys it, I find this convertible dickey blazer (dickeys sold separately) to be a very versatile and enjoyable addition to my wardrobe. I purchased it with a lot of Nordy Notes, since it rarely to never goes on sale. And I’ll wear it for years.

Who do you identify more with in the bible passage below? The Pharisees who drug a sinner to Jesus for condemnation? Or the woman who stood trembling under the weight of her guilt and shame? Honestly, I’ve been both. I’ve run to Jesus to tattle on others when their sin was directly affecting me, hoping Jesus would zap them somehow or at least pat me on the back and assure me of a future reckoning.
At other times I’ve felt the blush of shame rising up from under my collar and hoped for mercy.
Here’s what I know. We are more than welcome to run to Jesus to tattle. That’s better than throwing stones on our own, for sure. But I’ve also learned that Jesus loves that person who has done me wrong, set me sideways. And, while He’ll listen patiently to my complaints, He’ll also compel me to put down those stones and examine my own life in the light of His presence. Either way or the other, there will be no stones thrown in the presence of the Lamb of God.
Now the scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman caught in the act of adultery, and after placing her in the center of the courtyard, they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman has been caught in the very act of committing adultery. Now in the Law, Moses commanded us to stone such women; what then do You say?” Now they were saying this to test Him, so that they might have grounds for accusing Him. But Jesus stooped down and with His finger wrote on the ground. When they persisted in asking Him, He straightened up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.” ~ John 8:3-7
Hi Kay, I was thinking about the black blazer in my closet and to my surprise this was your post for today. Loved your different looks and style suggestions. Have a great day!
Donna
Thanks Donna. I’m so glad it was timely for you. 🥰
Love most of these looks….on you. Even though I just can’t seem to wear a black blazer with casual clothes……a black blazer just seems to be made to be worn with dressier slacks, skirts or dresses. But that’s just me.
It is so easy to get “down and out” during these crazy times. I, too, have to look for ways to change my attitude. Just staying busy does seem to help.
Love BFMD each day.
I like the black blazer with the joggers and wedge sneakers and the blazer with the black dress pants and heels and everything in between! Who would have thought you could have so many looks? Thank you, Kay!
The best message I’ve heard on this passage said that Jesus may have been writing the sins of the men around Him that we’re ready to throw the stones at her. What a thought! I find myself not so interested in your style suggestions. I only wear skirts and I’m larger than you. But, we agree 100% biblically. So nice! We have been on total lockdown since early Febuary. I only am able to go to dialysis and home. I need your Daily Blessings! Thank you so much for taking your time to write these. May the LORD bless you!
