Well mine and James’ calendar is quickly filling up with Christmas parties and activities. Now you have to remember, James is a pastor. So it’s not like we’re just real popular or anything. Ha! But our church’s small groups tend to invite us to their gatherings. And we love that. In fact, next week I’ll be attending a women’s cookie swap, three small group parties and our choir’s music program. Oh, my! What to wear! Well, today I’m sharing the sweetest outfit to wear to a casual Christmas party.
Most of the gatherings I attend at this time of year are not formal. In fact, most people will wear jeans to them. That’s why I love finding a sweet t-shirt like this red top with an embroidered yoke. It looks quite Christmasy in the right context, but I’ll be able to wear it after the season, too.
This t-shirt is 60% cotton and 40% modal rayon knit, so it’s oh so soft. The raglan sleeves feature a slight flare at the cuff for a feminine touch. I’m wearing a small t-shirt and it’s still roomy, so definitely size down if between sizes. And I’ve simply given mine a gentle front tuck to keep the silhouette more fitted and feminine.
This feminine button up t-shirt is 30% off right now, as are the jeans I’ve paired it with. Use code GIFT19. You’ll get free shipping if your order is $125 or more. (Oh, and J.Jill credit cardholders get their usual extra 5% off with use of the card.)
I’ve not worn J.Jill jeans before, but I’m really enjoying these high waist straight leg jeans in their luna wash. I think they look a little more polished than skinny jeans, but they’re also very comfortable. Honestly, I’m getting a little tired of skinny jeans, and I’m enjoying the more classic silhouette of straight legs like these. I’m wearing my usual size 8.
Don’t worry! I’m not about to step out in this outfit without my coat. And I absolutely love putting on this Cole Haan hooded down and feather jacket. I have it in cashew, but it comes in no fewer than 10 colors. And this warm coat is still 50% off, so now is a great time to snag it. (I’m wearing a large so I can layer underneath.)
I kept my accessories simple with this casual Christmas party look. Really, the yoke acts as a necklace, so all I needed were some pretty earrings and a bangle.
In order to let the red of the shirt really shine, I wore my neutral colored booties (similar) and carried my taupe satchel (similar).
I’ll probably wear this exact outfit at least a couple of times to casual Christmas parties, and then I bet I wear it Christmas day, too. Let me know if you have questions about anything I’ve shared here. I’m so thrilled that most of it is, make that all of it, is marked down at least 30%. Yay!

Blessed for My Day
Do you ever have days when you feel like something is missing? Maybe you have an indescribable yearning for something, and you can’t quite put your finger on what it is? Sure, we all have those days. The German language even has a name for it: sehnsucht. It’s defined as an intense, wistful longing.
But even before this longing was given a word in the German language, God addressed it in His Word. In fact, He created us with this inner drive, this hunger. It’s meant to lead us to Him, but we often allow it to drive us to people, things and activities instead. The next time you feel “sehnsucht,” intentionally turn to Jesus and ask Him to satisfy your hungry soul. Then give Him time to do just that. I promise you, He will.
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. ~ John 6:35
Kay, I enjoyed learning a new German word….now I have to google it to pronounce it. ? Enjoy all your fun gatherings. ~Lisa~
Haha! Thanks. ☺️
I love your BfMD message!! I’ll have to remember to do as it suggests and see what happens.
I’m glad that spoke to you, Bev. Thanks for reading. ?
You look just beautiful! I love the straight leg jeans. A perfect casual Christmas outfit.
Thanks so much Joanne. I really like this outfit, too. ?
Kay, you always look beautiful, but especially in red!!!!
Ahh, thanks. I do enjoy wearing red. ❤️
Red always says Merry Christmas! Husband and I went to a performance of The Nutcracker last night where I wore my bright red plaid wrap over black velvet jeans and a sparkly black/white checkered shirt. I loved seeing all the attendees (well, most of them anyway!) in holiday dress. You look beautiful!
Sounds absolutely beautiful, Linda. And I love the Nutcracker!! ?
You are pretty in red Kay! The one thing I don’t like about straight legged jeans is that they don’t fit snuggly under my bootie. How do your fit? I need to remember the guidance in BFMD and put it to use!
Thanks Ginger. Yeah, I just let my jeans fall over my boots. Thanks for reading!
Kay, I should have said my backside, not bootie. Oops!
Oh! Lol!! Well straight leg jeans generally fall or drape from the rear rather than hugging it. These fit pretty close to the body.
Thank you!
You look beautiful in red. When I looked this shirt up, the red
looks much deeper than it looks on you. Is it a deep red or
more vibrant like it looks on you? Maybe your photo color was
enhanced? Thanks!
Hmm. I think the color is pretty accurate in my photos. Granted I’m in the sun and the model on the website is in a studio.
Hi Brenda, I got home and looked at the shirt again. It is a deep red. The photos are pretty true to life. It’s just that we were in the sun. But it is a deep red. A very pretty red, too. Hope that helps. 🙂
I recall your about my height 5’8” ish , fix you go with tall from J jJill , thanks
These are regular. I bought them in the store and they don’t usually have tall there. But I think the regular is fine. It’s an ankle pant.
Oops! Wrong post. These are the full length jeans. But yes they are regular and I am 5’8”.
