Hello, sweet friend! And welcome to Dressed for My Day. Today I’m turning our attention to skincare. Indeed, true beauty begins even deeper than the skin. But at our age we know the importance that effective skincare plays in keeping us radiant and youthful. I’ve always been one to cleanse and moisturize my face daily, but recently I added L’Oreal Midnight Serum to my skincare regimen. Let me tell you why.

Ever wonder what all the fuss is about skincare serums? Me, too! So I did a little research. It turns out a serum, when it comes to skincare, is a light, fast-absorbing liquid used as an alternative to or in addition to lotions or creams. One of the main differences between a serum and the other creams you may already use on your face is what it doesn’t include.
Serums don’t contain the extra fluids and thickening agents that creams and lotions have. And they don’t contain things like UV protection. You probably already use products that protect your skin and add emollients. Instead, serums are a high concentration of active, potent ingredients that significantly aid your skin in cell growth and regeneration, things like antioxidants, vitamins and peptides.
As I’ve gotten into my mid-50s I’ve become increasingly aware of how quickly my skin is changing. Left to its own natural inclination, after years of exposure to sun and the grime of life as well as stress, my skin had become less elastic, more splotchy and duller. And of course I’ve developed wrinkles around my eyes and mouth as well as across my forehead and on my neck. Sure, that’s life! I honestly don’t mind getting older. And I know I won’t look the same in my latter years as I did in the “prime of life.” This decision is not about trying to look like my twenty-something year-old daughter.
But as I learned that there absolutely is something I can do to help my skin look brighter, more elastic and more healthy, I knew I wanted to invest in a skincare serum. They can be pricey, but generally a small amount of a potent serum goes a long way. So a one ounce bottle can last quite a while. And an effective serum can pack a powerful punch.
Yes, this is a sponsored post. Walmart introduced me to the L’Oreal Midnight Serum. But I’m sticking with this product because I like the results. I can understand why it was preferred to the number one luxury brand night serum in a head to head consumer preference study of 350 women.
The L’Oreal Age Cell Perfect Renewal Midnight Serum is formulated with an exclusive Antioxidant Recovery Complex that works at night when skin reaches its peak of cell renewal. With regular application this complex of a patented antioxidant and Vitamin E reveals millions of new cells for visibly smoother, more radiant and youthful looking skin. The complex also includes Hyaluronic Acid, a powerful hydrating ingredient that helps lock in moisture.
After just four weeks of nightly use I’ve noticed the wrinkles between my brows are less pronounced, my skin looks dewier and more elastic and my makeup goes on more smoothly and wears more evenly. I’ve also noticed that my skin looks brighter, less dull.
The L’Oreal Age Cell Perfect Renewal Midnight Serum is effective on all skin types and is also safe on sensitive skin. It’s dermatologist approved, allergy tested, paraben free and mineral oil free. A small drop of the golden liquid is all you need with each use, and it’s fast absorbing, not greasy or sticky. And isn’t the bottle even pretty!
I’ve been using the L’Oreal Age Cell Perfect Renewal Midnight Serum with L’Oreal’s Eye Makeup Remover, Age Perfect Cream Cleanser and Age Perfect Rosy Tone Cooling Night Moisturizer. But the beauty of a serum like the L’Oreal Midnight Serum is that you can add it to whatever skincare products you’re using and it will be beneficial. The serum is under $35 and available at Walmart and Walmart.com. Check out all of the L’Oreal products offered at Walmart HERE.

Blessed for My Day
Anger is a secondary emotion. It springs forth when we have other attitudes or emotions we have not properly dealt with. For me, I’ve noticed my anger generally builds when I have not dealt with feelings of jealousy, self-pity, sadness or rejection. I also sometimes sense anger growing when I feel like I’ve lost control of my circumstances.
But anger, once it has begun to simmer, brings further destruction, not healing. Once we have allowed other unhindered emotions to give birth to anger, it rules like a tyrant. It causes us to act in ways that are otherwise out of character. We can end up destroying relationships, opportunities and growth. Let’s carefully examine our lives to see where we are angry and why. And let’s confess that anger to the Lord and ask Him to heal it before it destroys.
Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil. ~ Ephesians 4:26-27
Thanks for the BFMD. Anger can hurt us in so many ways. No matter if we are on the receiving line of anger or dishing it out. Thanks for the reminder.
Have been thinking about trying the midnight serum by L’Oreal. Heard it was really a good product.
Hi Sherry. Yes, I’m very pleased with the serum.
Kay thanks for the tips! I want to try all you do for skincare, bc You look amazing! Beautiful Georgia peach 🍑God bless you and yours! Love, Cindy
Ahh, that’s so very kind Cindy. Thanks for reading!
Thank you, Kay, for researching, using the product, and sharing your findings. I’ve heard about serums, but they are expensive. This one is far more reasonably priced.
Have a wonderful weekend. (I, too, appreciate the daily BFMD. AND…. It’s fine with me if you take the weekend off and rest and play..)
Hahaha! Thanks so much. I had originally planned this post and video for Wednesday but there were some delays out of my hands. So this was written over a week ago. But we did have to shoot videos today. I’ll definitely get some rest tomorrow. And I enjoyed playing golf yesterday. 😊
Kay, can you tell us is the serum has a fragrance? I have asthma and sometimes it triggers a reaction. Id love to try it.
The rosy scent on recent products were not good for me.
Hi Sue. The serum does have a light somewhat sweet scent, much like that in the moisturizer.
Do you use the serum morning and night? I currently use one twice a day.
I’m also interested if it’s fragrance-free.
Hi Virginia. I’ve just been using it at night but the directions say you can use it morning and night.
I don’t hear Christians talking about this very much, but anger can also be a clue to abuse. Notice the verse does not say “Don’t be angry.” It says not to sin when angry. It is normal to be angry if someone hurts us or our children. Toxic people can abuse us emotionally or physically. Our emotions tell us when someone is harmful or toxic. Proverbs is full of warnings to stay away from the foolish and angry person. Psalm 7:11 says that God is angry at the wicked every day. Abuse is rampant in the church. Narcissistic people often become pastors to control others. It is a sad truth and the lambs need to be wise and aware.
I use loreal pure retinol at night and loreal hyaluronic acid morning and night loreal eye cream day and night and loreal revitalift moisturizer morning and night and finally I use liquid collagen. Will the serum work with all I use. Thank you Shirley
Hmm. I’m not sure Shirley. I guess you would want to compare the ingredients in it to what you’re using now. You might would swap it in for a couple of the things you are presently using.
Thank you I’ll try that.
Hi Kay…..I’m a couple days late getting to respond, Ugh
I love what you said and makes one think…..not trying to look like we did in our twenties and don’t mind getting older. We need to accept our beauty with aging. I’m addicted to face creams, serums, eye creams, etc. I will be buying this L’Oréal serum and I also love their face wash and use their foundation.
Thank you for this “beauty” post, I love these.
Blessings,
Wonderful. Thanks so much for letting me know Holly. 🥰
I wanted to ask if you are still using the Mary Kay products.
I do love the Mary Kay products still, but I switched to these LOreal products recently when the sponsor reached out. And I’ve continued to use them. So it’s not really a matter of preference.
Its November 11th today and I went to my local Costco yesterday and found this serum on sale for $40 for 2 one once bottles! Normally its $50 for 2 but there is $10 off right now. I was happy to find it on sale and bought it! Thanks for your recommendation Kay.
Wonderful! Thanks for sharing Martine. Maybe others can find it there too. 😊
