Winter Classics Outfit for Casual Friday

Do offices even have casual Fridays anymore? LOL! With so many people working from home these days, maybe most people are going pretty casual all the time. But I think the term casual Friday is familiar enough to most of us that we instinctively know what kind of outfit I’m sharing today, right? So whether you wear this winter classics outfit for a Friday in the office, a more contemporary worship service on the weekend or even a date night or lunch with friends, this is one you can probably create with those classics in your closet.

Winter Classics Outfit for Casual Friday

Honestly, this is the kind of outfit I love and admire every time I see someone else wearing it, but then I fail to put it together for myself often enough. I tend to complicate things and try to create interesting new looks. But this simple but chic style uniform is one I could easily wear frequently and never tire of.

Every piece that comprises this casual Friday outfit is a classic staple. So this is a good example of why it pays to stock your wardrobe with those interesting, good quality and well fitting essentials that work together for you.

Building a Wardrobe that Works for You: If you haven’t already read my series about building a wardrobe that works together so you are able to create beautiful outfits consistently, you might want to start here. You can also locate all the posts in that series through the top menu under FASHION.

I had been looking for a camel blazer for the past several years, and finally selected this one just this year. Unfortunately this luxe Italian blazer from Talbots is not on sale right now (I purchased it for at least 50% off), but if you’re interested in it you could “favorite” it in the shopping widget below to receive a notification when it does go on sale. I know that not all of my readers love a blazer as much as I do. But I do think it’s an investment piece worth considering. You can add a classic blazer to jeans, dress slacks, a dress or even shorts to change a look completely. And it doesn’t have to feel stuffy or extremely “businesslike” either. Choose a blazer that feels comfortable across the shoulders. You should be able to hug your honey in it! But also look for a blazer with well placed and constructed seams, a proper fitting lining (if it has one) and good hardware (the buttons don’t have to be fancy, just good quality).

I’m also a fan of a nice fitting, classic white button up shirt. It’s not what I choose to wear daily, but especially if I need to command a room or look like I know what I’m doing, this wardrobe staple definitely helps send the right messages. I’m planning to share a video soon about a variety of ways to style a classic white shirt. Again, mine is not marked down right now unfortunately. But it is a good one that I can recommend. I like a white shirt that I don’t have to wear a camisole under. This one is structured with front and back body darts, but also has stretch for comfort and movement. You also do not have to iron this shirt.

The final element that I consider key to this casual Friday outfit is the medium rinse “clean” jeans. By clean I don’t mean I washed them. Hahaha! I mean they don’t have a lot of fading, whiskering, distressing or other distracting details. While I love all of those elements, I think it’s a good idea to have a pair of jeans in a medium to dark wash (depending on what you wear with them most frequently) that can serve as a blank canvas for more elevated casual looks.

These skinny jeans from Vineyard Vines do have minimal whiskering and fading, but just enough to make them look rich and well-loved. While these don’t carry the name of any of the more well known premium denim, I would rank them as such. They’re certainly a little pricey. (I meant to style them for this post and then return them, but I was too impressed with them so I kept them!) But they’re marked down 30% today with code BIGSALE. These Jamie high-rise jeans are also available in a darker wash. I’m wearing a size 30 and they are soooo comfortable.

Finally, I love my leopard print kitten heels with this casual Friday outfit. I’m wearing my true size and they fit quite comfortably. The bad news is these leopard print kitten heels are only available in a few sizes; the good news is they’re marked down 70%.

I kept my jewelry minimal and professional for the casual Friday outfit, but you could add a necklace and/or larger earrings for a bolder look. But I think these Tima oversized studs are so versatile and modern.

Blessed for My Day

In recent posts we’ve been walking through 1 Corinthians 13 here in this blessing. Today we wrap up that well known passage with a reminder that when all is said and done, all we have is faith, hope and love. These three crucial choices will indeed get us through the toughest days and the most difficult relationships.

Faith keeps you going. It causes you to get back up on your feet when you’ve been dealt another blow. It’s a statement of trust in God. Hope turns your focus forward, determining to press on even though the circumstances are not promising. It also helps you to take one step and then another in the right direction. And love helps you engage again. We’re not meant to press on alone, but in relationship.

But now faith, hope, and love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is love. ~ 1 Corinthians 13:13

  1. This post is so lovely; all of the elements are classic and feminine and will take you anywhere! And thank you for the “Blessed for My Day” most of all. I really needed to read this today! xoxoxo Barbara

  2. Kay, I enjoyed your video so much yesterday! It brought a ray of sunshine into a gloomy, rainy day! Thank you for all of the work you do to help us look better and feel better about ourselves!
    Have a blessed day!

  3. Kay, I love this outfit. I ordered the camel blazer last week at 40% off and it is definitely luxe. I am so happy with it. I have not work a button down white shirt since parochial school! Maybe there’s an aversion there somewhere:) But I see how lovely it looks on you so I am going to check it out. You also sold me on the jeans! I just ordered them via your link in both washes. I hope they fit!

    1. Hahaha! Well I was pretty amazed at how well those jeans fit and feel. I’m glad you were able to get the blazer at a discounted price. 💕

  4. Good morning! I just became a subscriber yesterday. I was introduced to you through Beth(Style at a certain age)
I love the classics and your ootd is so lovely.
I look forward to becoming better acquainted.
May your day hold more blessings than you can count!

    1. Hello and welcome! You know I’m really a Georgia peach, too. I’m from the Cobb County area. I’m so glad you found me. Beth is a gem. 🥰

  5. Hmmm … loved this outfit but I am committed to not buying anything but essentials this February and “decluttering” the entire month. Got me to thinking … found my best pair of jeans, a pair of leopard flats that I already had, my best long sleeved white t-shirt and the camel open front long cardigan that I’ve had for a few months. Looks pretty good with gold earrings and a small gold necklace. Thanks Kay for getting me to thinking how to create your beautiful outfits with what I already have.

    1. Absolutely! I’m on a purchasing freeze myself. I’ve been buying a few spring transition things to show on the blog, but you’ll see in my How I Really Dressed for My Day post tomorrow that I’m wearing and enjoying the pieces that are already in my closet. Good for you! 🙌🏻

  6. Hi Kay! I ordered a nice white button down from Chico’s. I am still on the fence about whether or not I’ll actually wear it. I am working from home and not venturing out too often so right now it definitely will not get a lot of use. I see the white blouse everywhere though! It’s packed up to go back but I keep thinking I’ll keep it. Decisions, decisions!

    1. Hahaha! I completely get it. Obviously I don’t wear mine that much right now either. But I never regret having it available. And I think it will be nice for the spring.

  7. Kay, thank you for sharring yor knowledg, you look so put together. Love the classis casual look. I really enjoy you sharring your faith, it in courages me to share mine. God bless your day.

    1. Thanks Jan. I’m glad you enjoyed the post. Yes, we can definitely be encouraged by one another to share our faith. So important, especially right now. 😊

  8. You look so nice in this classic outfit! It definitely fits your style. I really like the BFMD. In our part of GA we are waiting on the thunderstorms to move in. The on and off rain began on Tues. and will be here through Monday. It’s good it’s rain instead of snow. I hope that you have had a good day.

  9. Love, Love this outfit!!! I have never order from Vineyard Vines, I am in between sizes 4 & 6? I am a 4 Regular at Loft.
Thank you for your inspiring “Blessed for my Day”, each day, I look forward to your post.

    1. I find them to be true to size. But then I did go with my higher of two Jean sizes. But they may be a little big on me too. I just kinda like them that way. 🤷🏼‍♀️

  10. Hi Kay, First post as I am new to the club. I am from Perth in Western Australia and have spent the last few nights watching your videos which are very inspiring. I love your style and your very pleasant friendly demeanor. It’s Friday morning and I am getting ready for work so this post it timely! Great look.

  11. Nice classic outfit. I love blazers and have many and wear them all the time
except for the past couple of weeks in Minnesota. Has been below zero every
day and evening. According to the weather report the most below zero days
in a row since 2014. Brrrr! Been wearing my heavy sweaters.
Also been thinking of buying those jeans you have on for 2 weeks now.
Going to take the plunge with the 30% off. We studied this verse today in women’s
Bible study today from your BFTD. Thanks

  12. Kay, I so enjoy your posts. I am a GA peach too. You look amazing! Whatever you’re doing, keep it up! You’re glowing and gorgeous! Love the style advice especially posts about shopping our own closet. I’m trying to reduce my clothing inventory so I especially like thoughtful ways to wear basics. Thank you!

  13. This is an absolutely beautiful outfit, one of my favorite looks that you have done. I think blazers are so versatile and can make just about anything look a little more dressed up, which I like to see in our ultra-casual society. What’s wrong with looking nice instead of looking like one just rolled out of bed? BTW, thanks for your review of L’Oréal Age Perfect products; I’ve been using them and they’re wonderful!
