Whew! We made it to the weekend! Yippee! And I’m so glad you stopped in to check out the scoop on sales, too. Let me know in the comments below if you’re shopping for anything in particular these days. Are you picking up new pieces for a vacation (what kind?), a special event or just to fill some holes in your summer wardrobe? Or maybe you’re looking for gifts. I’d love to know how to help you optimize your shopping.

Your Weekend Shopping Headquarters

Today I’ll be sharing

  • What Dressed for My Day readers are buying this week– top selling items at my blog
  • Noteworthy Sales – all the sales worth checking out, plus I may include my top picks from any given sale occasionally
  • What’s in My Cart – items I’ve purchased this week (keep in mind I don’t keep everything I order!)

This post contains affiliate links. If you shop through them, I potentially earn a commission from any purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you for shopping through my links and supporting my work.

What DFMD readers are buying this week

These are the items my readers having been clicking through and then making purchases according to my analytics. While I have no way of knowing if these are actually the specific items you’re purchasing, these are at least the items you’re clicking through. Make sense?

Today I’m going to display the top-selling items a little differently. I’m going to show the items as I’ve shared them with you in previous posts, so you can have a little more frame of reference.

#1 – the Silky Cotton Lantern Sleeve Top

I’m not surprised that you gals liked this Silky Cotton Lantern Sleeve Top as much as I do. It’s just unique enough to make you look like an individual, but classic enough to stay in your closet for years, playing nicely with so many other pieces.

As seen in this post.

The Silky Cotton Lantern Sleeve Top runs a touch large. I’m wearing a 6 instead of my usual 8. It’s still fully stocked in this pretty, chic black, but also comes in several other colors plus a pretty blue and white stripe. It’s 30% off in Everlane’s “choose what you pay” section.

#2 – 7″ Chino Shorts

Readers also liked the shorts I wore with the lantern sleeve top in Monday’s post.

I appreciate the 7″ inseam in these chino shorts (the petite sizes feature a 6″ inseam). They’re extremely comfortable with a nice amount of stretch, but have the full cotton feel. The button tab detailing along the belt line is a nice touch. These chino shorts are available in four colors and they’re 30% off in Talbots’ Friends & Family event. You’ll get an extra 15% off if you’re a Classic Awards member. Use code FRIENDS.

#3 – Girlfriend Denim Shorts in Ryder Wash

Evidently many of my readers like a good pair of denim shorts for summer as much as I do. The Girlfriend Denim Shorts in Ryder Wash are the next most popular purchase of the week. I’m showing you these from the catalog because I don’t actually have them in my possession yet. I ordered them quite a while back and they shipped just yesterday. Let’s give Talbots a break, though. They had to completely shut down their distribution center due to employees getting Covid-19.

I did go ahead and buy these same denim shorts in the Miller wash, which are about sold out. So I can attest to the comfort and style of these jean shorts. They run true to size. I wear an 8. And they are extremely comfortable.

#4 – Cotton V-Neck Striped Sweater

I knew this Cotton V-Neck Striped Sweater was going to be a big hit because several Instagram followers had direct messaged me about it when they saw me wearing it in an Instagram story before I even officially showed it on the website. In fact, it wasn’t even on the Talbots website at the time! And yes, it is a winner!

Is it lightweight? Oh yes, it is. I wore it Thursday to our church’s outdoor hotdog lunch. The weather was warm and humid, but I felt perfectly comfortable. The Cotton V-Neck Striped Sweater runs a tad large, so I sized down to a small. But go with your regular size if you prefer a looser fit. You’ll get 30% off + an extra 15% off with code FRIENDS if you’re a Classic Awards member.

#5 – The Eileen Fisher Viv Wedge Sandals

Okay, if you’re one of the five readers who haven’t yet purchased your pair of Eileen Fisher Viv Wedge Sandals you can now get them for even cheaper. Ha! No really, they are indeed marked down even more, but I guess there probably are more than five of you who haven’t purchased them. Okay, ten. Hehehe!

Seriously, these Eileen Fisher Viv Wedge Sandals are some amazing shoes. They get a gold star for being both extremely comfortable and oh so chic. The wedges are available in four different neutrals, so I suggest picking one that works well with your skin color and tone. They run TTS. And yes, they seriously are 52% off.

#6 – Nic + Zoe Tech Stretch Ankle Pants

I do love my Nic + Zoe Tech Stretch Ankle Pants. And I hope all of you who have ordered some do, too.

As seen in this video.

The Nic + Zoe Tech Stretch Ankle Pants run true to size and feature fantastic four-way stretch, lightweight fabric that makes them perfect for travel. Unfortunately the black pants are all but sold out with just a few left in the petite sizes. However, the navy pants are still available in sizes medium, large and extra large (as of Friday afternoon). And they’re still 50% off, too.

But if you can’t find your size and you’re still interested in the concept, you might want to check out Talbots’ lightweight stretch woven cutout crops. They also come in navy and black and they’re a similar lightweight pant. I’d say the Talbots pants are a little more cropped and are a little fuller in the leg and torso. But they’re still a great option and part of Talbots’ Friends and Family event. They run true to size also.

#7 – Banana Republic Supima Cotton V-Neck T-Shirt

I now own all three shades of the Banana Republic Supima Cotton V-Neck T-Shirt. And evidently a lot of you own at least one now, too.

As seen in this post.

This is definitely the best Supima Cotton V-Neck T-Shirt I’ve found. It has a smooth hand, a slightly tapered fit and a well trimmed v-neck. The black stays black with laundering, too. I wear a small in the white and black tees, but I needed a medium in the grey. I don’t know what that’s all about. Has anyone else had similar experiences with this tee? Let me know in the comments if you have any insight on the sizing of these tees. They may have simply gone down in the sizing a bit. I purchased the black and white tees last year, but just got the grey one recently.

#8 – Sunshine On My Mind Tee

I also had a feeling this Sunshine On My Mind Tee would be a big hit. It just screams summer…but in a sweet way, of course.

The Sunshine On My Mind Tee runs a bit large. I’m wearing a small and it’s still nice and roomy. I love that the Sunshine on My Mind is embroidered into the shirt and not just printed on it. And aren’t these colors just fun??? It’s part of Talbots’ Friends & Family event, so you’ll get 30% off PLUS an extra 15% off if you’re a Classic Awards member. Not a member? Join here free. Use code FRIENDS at checkout for the discounts.

#9 – Lightweight Stretch woven Cutout Crops

Well, speaking of the Talbots Lightweight Stretch woven Cutout Crops! Here they are in the number nine position for the week.

As seen in this video.

Full confession. I kept these Lightweight Stretch woven Cutout Crops, too. Even though I have two pairs of the Nic + Zoe Tech Stretch Ankle Pants. Yeah, I’m a little obsessed with these pants. But as a gal who works from home, these are kinda my jam.

The Talbots Lightweight Stretch woven Cutout Crops run true to size. I’m wearing a medium. You’ll get 30% off + 15% off with code FRIENDS.

#10 – Ladder Back Stripe T-Shirt Dress

I’m so pleased that some of my readers have evidently purchased the Ladder Back Stripe T-Shirt Dress. I think it’s a real winner.

As seen in this video.

I definitely kept the Ladder Back Stripe T-Shirt Dress from my Talbots haul. I think it’s a little more turquoise than it appears in this photo, by the way. Such pretty colors. The dress runs true to size. I think. I didn’t try on the small and might could have worn it for a slimmer fit. But I think the medium works well and I just didn’t like the idea of trying a lot of clothes on at the store.

Well, there ya go! Those are the top sellers this week here at Dressed for My Day!

Blessed for My Day

I think we sometimes get frustrated because we feel alone and misunderstood. We want others to feel our pain as deeply as we do, experience our joys as profoundly as we feel them and even dream our dreams. And when other people don’t and can’t possibly completely comprehend the depth of our emotions or the weight of our frustrations, we sometimes get mad at them and even push them away. Or we demand they try harder. But to no avail.

Here’s the thing. I can’t walk in your shoes. But I can walk beside you. Will that be enough for you? Will it be enough for you if I or someone else cheers you on and gives you a hand now and again? It will be enough if you can also remember that God is always with you. He goes before you, beside you and with you. He has your back. And He completely understands life from your perspective. He knows you thoroughly and loves you completely.

We all have our personal struggles. No one is exempt. But there is a God who promises to provide everything you need to handle whatever comes your way. Don’t lean on me. Don’t lean on anyone else. Lean solely on God. He alone can bear the full weight of your burdens.

Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing. ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:11

  1. Kay So loved your Blessed for My Day post. And it is so true, and I am so thankful for the truth that God is always with us and knows everything about us. Your words were so wise and insightful! Thanks! And God’s blessings to you!

  2. I love your fashion posts! But, when I scroll down to the bottom and read the words from your heart my day is set! In a time of such turmoil and uncertainty it is nice to have a blog I can read that uplifts my spirit. God is so good!

  3. Thank you for your blessed for my day thoughts! I look forward to them the most every day! Taking the summer off from your inner beauty posts, in my opinion, is just another inner beauty trait, The Beauty of Sabbatical. Though I will miss them on Saturdays I value the importance of rest and refresh and completely support your decision to step back! Be blessed sweet Kay!

  4. Love most of these options even though I’m not making many purchases at this time. Appreciate the Blessed for my Day thoughts so much.

  5. I am thankful for your wonderful posts: the fashions, the style tips, and the encouragement from God’s Word. These things add joy to my life and I always look forward to what is new.
God bless you and your family. Enjoy your weekend.
